I missed out on some of the items from the s1 battle pass that I really wanted such as the kitsune charm. Do you think they’ll bring it to the shop, or maybe put it in a future kiriko bundle?
No, sorry…thats kinda the main point of the battle pass, the items are exclusive for that specific battle pass in that specific season. Just like how its very unlikely to return any mythic skin in the future. If they return them it ruins the point of the battle pass.

Kinda stupid on their part. Skins I can understand, but a charm? They should’ve at least added it to the kiriko starter bundle since they paired it when kiriko when she was first released. Blizzard would make so much more money if they added old bp items to the shop, or even brought back loot boxes.

They make far more from preying on your FOMO than they would making items available all the time. As far as I know, there’s exactly one game that does this (Halo Infinite) and despite that aspect being universally praised, not one game has followed suit.
Lootboxes probably won’t come back for different reasons; the political climate makes that dangerous as countries are starting to regulate it, and even if they make it a non-transaction thing that’s theoretically safe, they’re still opening themselves up to litigation.

I mean another option is trading items, I would definitely trade some of my legendary stuff for that kitsune charm.

If you contact support, they’ll tell you that they don’t know. I have no idea if charms would come out but there was talk appealing to new players about cyber demon being re-released.

None of us know. I hope they don’t, so in time some items in this game actually feel somewhat special. Atm the only special items are like t500 animated sprays and season icons, and like blizzcon skins/pink mercy.
You never know, but fear of missing out-factor is a big part of their business model.

if they follow normal trends for battlepasses then the answer is that it probably wont.
there is a 0.1% chance that at some point in the future they might add a double track so you can earn an old battle passes rewards on top of the current battlepass for like a one time event, but again id say the odds are VERY low and you should never assume something like that would happen.
iirc, deep rock galactic’s season pass has unclaimed items go into the other loot pool after the pass expires. but that’s a free BP in a premium game. not sure if there are any f2p ones doing this.
If they bring them back they can’t capitalise on the FOMO phenomenon.

Honestly, I hope the battlepass exclusive items trend dies out… If it’s a cosmetic item and does not change the gameplay in any way, it should be available to obtain in one form or another… People love to customize their character/s, and having an item that can no longer be obtained can demotivate a player so bad that they just drop the game all together… Even having a paid bundle for past event items would be better than just making them unobtainable. And that is coming from someone that almost never indulges in microtransactions… Battlepass item/s exclusives are just pure evil…

I would technically agree with this statement… if they didn’t literally treat ALL items in the shop as limited time exclusives with a still uncertain coming soon after now over 4 months of OW2. now they have ridiculed the battle pass as an exclusive bundle precisely because it sells the game for dropping experience in the gallery when its goal was to sell a specific theme in a bundle. oops, it’s an incomplete bundle. oops, it contains credits that should legitimately be available with leveling up (in fairness to the availability of OW1 content, not “just the equivalent of a legendary ow1 skin every season pass”) rather than as additional rewards.
the shop is objectively much more prohibitive than the old event / lootbox system, because not only does it not give you the economic power to make your purchases after so much gameplay… but it doesn’t even give you the adequate time availability. and above all it DOES NOT give you a real choice of what to buy. in battle pass it is further ridiculed by the fact that its themes are deconstructed with random content, while the rest is poured into the shop and its limited time systems without a specific date. and charms and souvenirs unnecessarily related to those skins, of course. the same one that unnecessarily takes up too many Battle Pass tiers. I only leave a favorable comment to bp season 3: at least they didn’t create levels exclusively based on credits, that would really have been the most ridiculous side. If we have to talk about REAL exclusives let’s look at Blizzcon content that AT LEAST gives you multiple content from various blizzard games.
to reply to OP, I recall in a pre-ow2 post that they would make some BP content (like mythic skins) probably in the future. but they did not specify how and at what prices. they will probably be vaults similar to those of the OWL but… at even more prohibitive prices than normal.
Recolors of skins might pop in and out, just like other games like Apex but those specific Gun Charms … I would not hold my breath on that.
The only thing that hasn’t returned is Pink Mercy. It will probably be in the store at some point, Season 1 pack for $60
