Wil we ever get a literal pocket healer

Of course, other than mercy. More or less someone that can stick with or even too someone and enhance them in some sorta crazy kinda way.

Eh, who knows.

I hope we do not. Getting Mercy design into a balanced state for how she plays I think ended up being a little bit of a miracle. Its incredibly hard to do characters like this I feel. It ends up an unbalanced mess either too strong or too weak.

Almost no one like playing against those.

This type of support is pretty universally reviled in competitive games and are notiously hard to balance. Mercy herself is still kind of in a disaster state but can’t be adjusted because she is sort of technically okay, but still feels like trash to have in your games. It’s because of the concept of her kit, and the concept of pocket heal/utility. A good example is Yuumi in League of Legends, who Riot have almost given up on from a pro competitive setting. Her BR is either always really high, or she is nerfed into an actual throw pick, and despite her being a hugely popular and onetricked hero…the community is pretty much okay with that.

Adding another support like that, like Mercy, would be terrible for this game, when they’ve had just shy of a decade to work on the one they have, and she’s still dog for the game lol.

They cant balance mercy and you want them to add another one?

why though.

  1. Mercy already exists to suit this play style

  2. Mercy already feels kinda bad to have on your team, it’d be totally horrible to have both

  3. They already tried to have a healing/utility support with Lifeweaver and he was turbo trash until they let him do decent damage

  4. I get that it’s “Support” but it’s just more engaging to let the player do the cool thing rather than just let them enable it. Like, imagine if Bionade instead made the target do Anti-heal on hit. Probably stronger than the current grenade, but way less engaging for the Ana player.

plus like… you can just play other supports like this? Ana Rein duos do it all the time. Unless you’re specifically something where you can just turn on Primary Toggle and tab out of the game like with Mercy

eh, all understandable and good points TBH.

Hmm, maybe there is a way to make it not hated and creative at the same time. Maybe with unusual gimmicks like leaping off of allies for mobility… using over-healing so it can keep people alive longer and who knows, maybe a sorta Biotic Nade Effect which increases healing received slightly when you throw yourself off of a teammate…

Although this is just brainstorming and stuff. I’ll set myself up with this as a challenge as i wanna see if there is a possible good pocket that can be achieved.

Not really, they just made her ridiculously weak and only pickable with op heroes on the team. Pocket heroes don’t work in this game

A pocket healer like Mercy should remain unique, in my opinion.

If anything, I would like support heroes to be even more solo-sustainable in the future, which is the complete opposite to a “pocker healer”.

And to be honest, pocket healers don’t have their place in a 5v5 deathmatch game like F2P Overwatch.
