It doesnât have to be methemoglobinemia. The blue color of the skin (cyanosis) can have different causes.
While methemoglobinemia always results in cyanosis, cyanosis is not a sure sign of methemoglobinemia.
Cyanosis can also be caused by cold (I once jumped into a cold pool as a child and had blue lips as a result), heart and lung diseases and poisoning.
Most likely Widow has a mixture of cold and methemoglobinemia/poisoning cyanosis.
It is very important: methemoglobinemia can also be caused by the addition of certain substances and does not have to be a hereditary disease (which is out of the question in Widows case anyway, since she was normal in old pictures)
