Sadly i’m a terrible widowmaker so i don’t have any advice, i’m just here to bump the thread for you so you can get actual advice.

Take long sightlines that are important to the opponents (even if they never walk into it without a shield you should still be doing helping) and prioritize parallel high ground so that you can easily escape flankers.
You have to approach it like any other Zombie Apocalypse. You aim for the head.

But seriously, Widowmaker is difficult to give tips for; because she’s mostly configured by personal taste. Sensitivity is everything. It has to be dialed in so that you can shoot comfortably and quickly.
Positioning is something that can be advised. I’d recommend watching some YouTube videos describing Widowmaker spots within maps that people don’t use. I use them all of the time, and most people to this day are unaware of them (like the tree on Hanamura Defense).
She also demands a good team. She needs to be able to work within the confines of what her team allows her to do. If they have no backbone and you’re constantly rushed…it’ll be a bad game for you.

you two literally forgot the more important tip of “dont die” amateurs
Don’t eat egg salad if you’re planning on riding the bus.
Somebody above mentioned your team has to help. It’s really important that you aren’t being jumped by dive tanks or a flanker all the time.
If the other team is all over you just switch.
important skills to playing Widowmaker are positioning and aim.
Just spam bodyshots. 120 a hit and bout a second to charge, you will hit a headshot eventually because hitboxes suck.
As a widow main.Im starting to get annoyed that everyone is playing widow maker.It feels like the whole game comes down to which widow on each team is better.
I hope blizzard adds more heroes to challenge and counter widow or educate the community that Hammond Winston DVA and symmetra are good counters.2 full blast shots from symmetra kills unexpected widows.

Here are a few tips.
When getting killed by another widow always watch the kill cam to see how they did it. It will help you learn about positioning, sight lines, etc.
Adjust your mouse and sensitivity settings and find what works best for you.
Having low ping, a good mouse and 144hz monitor go a long way.
Don’t overextend and don’t get too close to the heat of the battle.
Always have an escape route in mind to grapple away too.
Don’t stay in one position scoped in for very long, take a couple of shots and move on before your position gets compromised.
Place your venom mine near your location where you suspect the enemy team may come at you from. When it goes off grapple away.
When an enemy is behind a shield track them but don’t fire until the shield drops, then take your shot. Ignore the shield holder.
Shoot the Pharah.
i dont know how else to put it though? widows primary and only goal in life is to click on heads. Play 1000+ hours and you should be good at doing that one thing.
