When will this hero be reworked into something that isn’t broken?
The entire design of a hero killing you before you can even react is unfair… add to the fact that she has wall hacks as an ultimate and it makes the game x20 more fun.
Remember when a hero’s only counter being themselves was something Jeff hated? Looks like Widow’s getting a pass
Try playing Valorant sometime. There any hero can kill any hero in one shot.
Seriously though, Widowmaker can only OHK heroes that are not tanks and only if she lands the headshot, and if she misses her position is compromised as she could be ambused or be forced to move forward because the defenders will take a more safe position. That is the real balance of Widowmaker, to punish poor positioning of her victims, but she is punished if she can’t land the hits.
That seems like a really exaggerated example, but yeah that is the idea. Remember natrual cover (walls) will always be your best friends against a Widowmaker. Shields are not consistantly reliable and you must always respect the LoS.
D.Va and Winston are great options to displace a Widow, they can quickly jump to her position and harass her to the point of not being effective.
Except that isn´t the correct position anymore and the skill to pull that off makes it more than reasonable, that they get the kill.
Yet we have proof of several dive archetypes that she cannot handle well at all, dive as a strat is just dead, becuase they made the new additions to the support tank roosters so OP.
I think one-shots existing without an ability or clear indication that they will happen is simply bad game design.
There is no time to react or to counter against her. Telling players to switch an entire team composition to counter a single hero (which may not even work) is just telling of how badly designed she is.
But for serious, snipers have been in videogame for lord knows how long. Complaining about Widowmaker in a game that has so many options around her is frankly silly. Get a dive hero, find a shield, flank, don’t open yourself up to long sight lines, etc.
Ever play COD? Ain’t nothing like that in those games.
If anything, the charge nerf hurts her alot, I rarely see her now and when I do the player is usually bad with her
If the only counter to another widow is a widow, then why doesn’t widow have an absurd pickrate in OWL or on ladder? Why would people not play such a broken hero all the time if they could just win by having good aim?
I play Widow HS with some GM players, and I swear their headshot rate is ungodly. I can’t even find the 4 pixels I’m supposed to aim at and they’re already on you like you’ve got a balloon head the side of Torb’s whole body.
Obviously it’s not like that in actual game, but man they’re good.
Widowmaker (and all Sniper archetype characters in FPS) is only as good as the player behind them.
So you really can’t nerf them, cause you would be nerfing the getting good part of … “git gud”.
No seriously though, playing sniper archetype is a lot more than a lot of people says them to be. Hell, LazyPurple when making “How it feels to play Sniper” has a really good clip on why he has to explain the whole process of him forcing headshots and stuffs.
Because from the outside looking in, everyone just see Widowmaker plays “point and click”. But no one can see how many shots the Widow misses before landing a headshot, hell, before landing A shot. And unlike TF2 where everything has a set pattern of movement (apart from Scout), Overwatch has a lot more different type of movement, which makes shot prediction harder than it is in TF2.
I find it not indifferent that being a sniper who does headshot gets a kill. Or rather, I do not know that there are video games that offer snipers that do not kill when they hit the enemy’s head.
it makes more sense to ask to pay attention to the consistency of hitboxes instead of crying for a role that does what it has to do.
