Here is the thing. We have been getting more of those weird looking female heroes just recently (Briggite is probably the only normal recent one to a point that she even looks boring).
It may fit well with some characters but woudl it hurt if, lets say, moira still had the evil witch vibes without looking so manly?
moira would be okay if she were feminine, but the thing is almost every woman in overwatch is very feminine already. she would just blend in, rather than stand out as her own unique character like she does now. not every woman is super feminine. moira looks fine androgynous and it doesn’t work against her character. she isn’t even ugly, per se, just not everyone’s cup of tea. and that’s fine. a design doesn’t have to please everyone if there others that can please.
Nova and Kerrigan skins are out of Starcraft and Starcraft 2. Those games are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay older than OW. And they are literally important, both as products and as parts of gaming history.
You guys might as well be picketing the continental sport of Asia, while tryign to get this pushed through. Starcraft in Asia is like chess in teh West. I’ve heard this repeatedly.
Actually there aren’t as many feminine characters in OW as you think. It goes down to Mercy, Widow and D.va. Pretty much any other female character has some noticeably manly characteristics.
Yes actually It would hurt because it would feel out of place.
Themes, motifs colors designs etc are used to activate a subconscious thought in the viewer. Red signifies danger or lust. Pink signifies love or nurture. Black is thought of as death.
Widowmaker is sexy and slim because shell deceive you. The way she did to her husband. She’s blue because her heart rate is slowed down but also because she herself is blue. Sad but also cold and empty.
Moira’s theme is yellow and purple. Yellow in this game is healing. Good. And purple is sickness and evil. Moira has a duality. She’s evil but only because she has no boundaries for the sake of knowledge. She’s not strictly evil. Thus she has purple with a hint of yellow. A bit of good lies in her if not only because she has no Ill intent. He androgynous look continues the idea of duality. Is she good? Evil? Man? Woman? She doesn’t take care of herself because she is taken over by her passion for science. So she’s unhealthy probably because she doesn’t eat much. And her passion have led her to do experiments on herself damaging her health further.
um, mei, sombra, pharah, tracer, ana, brigitte are very much pretty, they all have very feminine faces and all wear makeup. if they all were 100% feminine down to a tee, they would all look the same. and same face is a cardinal sin in character design.
I agree with y ou but I left Pharah and Brig out of my answer because they are strong as hell, and I guess could be interpreted as having “guy” qualities.
A girl doesn’t have to have a “correct” girl look to be beautiful and feminine. As far as attractiveness goes, a lot of people have a lot of different opinions on what is beautiful. Hence, someone like Sym being gorgeous to some, Mei being gorgeous to others, Mercy to some, etc.
