Widowmaker is not fun to play against

Something needs to be done with her because currently this game is insanely frustrating to play when the enemy has a good widowmaker.

Well this is rare to see a nerf Widow thread. I don’t know what to say about this.

im not shure if u know that a dive is a thing, but it shuts down a good widow and forces them to switch.

I think it’s a sarcastic thread to mirror the “nerfsombra” or “nerf tracer” threads? But I’m not sure, the sarcasm is too good

I’d say, the probability of having a good Widow on any team is kind of low. Sure they are extremely annoying to play against when they are good, but when they are bad, the enemy team is a man down.

I hunt Widows for a living, Jelly kills them until they switch.

who has fun when they lose?

You know how many good Widows are out there OP?
Nat that many! Don’t get your issue. Widow is a hero who is very good, but only in the hands of very few people.
Looks like a fair trade for me.

Orisa is going to be your saving grace against Godmakers and Godzos, which are gradually becoming less rare as people get better at the game.

The robot centaur’s barrier completely shuts down their ability to hurt anyone behind it, you’ve got your right click for disrupting their positioning, you’ve got a projectile weapon (no falloff) for forcing them to retreat at long ranges, and lastly you’ve got enough health/armor to survive a headshot if you get caught in the open. Just make sure not to get Scattered, but that won’t be an issue when Handsoap finally gets reworked.

sigh

I am going too regret this as im a widow main.

  1. Play winston, annoy the hell out of her (the most anti-fun pick for a widow to play against). Mostly because the ones choosing too play winston know what they’re doing and thus remotely surviving a good winston is pretty much impossible for widow.

  2. Play Orisa, the most mindless spaming tank in the game which is near unkillable because nobody wants too shoot the shield.

  3. Play genji. A good widow can easily kill a genji but it works both ways a good genji can easily kill a good widow.

  4. Play moira and spam damage orbs in her direction. (the most mindlessly luck based ability in the game).

  5. Play junkrat or soldier and spam her location or last known position while spamming A and D like a muppet.

Problem solved.

Btw; Good widows are hard to find and rare. Its usually an average widow per game and even then they’re popping off as a result of your own team ignoring her or not zoning her out. If shes left uncontested then of course she will dominate.

My nemesis, I will never switch! NEVA!

Oh, just you wait, you haven’t met Jelly, Lol😂

My issue with Widow is how you’re forced to contest her. Spamming her won’t deter her for long, Hanzo is garbage, so Widow is the only smooth way to kill off a Widow uncontested.

In order to kill her as a hero who isn’t Widow you potentially have to go through her sightline, around her team, use vertical mobility to get to her, and then you have to engage her in Mortal Kombat while she has her grapple for jukes on top of an SMG and a mine to give you that extra bit of cancer.

I don’t think she needs nerfs but holy $#@% do I hate playing against her. I honestly just wish there weren’t any ridiculously long ranged heroes in Overwatch.

This is why orisa is so useful. Despite what people say “oh well they’ll still shoot her shield in ranked etc”. Well unless they’re playing at a higher level, that shield wont come down quick at all and will block all of widows damage most of the time. Hell by the time shield does come down she just puts a new one up.

The thing with widow is that yes you DO have to contest her but shes hard countered very easily. I know its frustrating and such but seriously, its her only way of being played and other heroes are a lot more versatile. Consider that she is one of the hardest heroes too play consistantly and position perfectly, she also has more things outright denying her play than anyone else in the game…

Deflect, DM, Shields, Barriers, Damage Reduction and if shes trying too burst down a high health pool target thats getting healed up constantly then she wont get anywhere, not too mention that widows generally wont ALWAYS land headshots. Not even the pros do that.

Spamming widows really does do a lot more than you think. If shes constantly harrased shes not getting picks and rendered effectively useless for the duration, it doesnt require your whole team to do it either. AoE damage is useful which is where junkrat comes in. She can change position sure but so can you and so can everyone else and the person harassing her can deal with that accordingly.

Consider that Tracer if left alone uncontested in the backline will wreak havoc as well or a genji. You’re forced too contest most of the DPS heroes in the game. Imagine allowing a soldier too just run around shooting half your team because you haven’t changed position with rein? you have too. I cant reiterate it enough that positioning and blocking LoS for some heroes is prevalent with more heroes than just widow alone.

A mediocre D.Va/Winston that just jump towards her will usually force a swap.
Unless she’s really, really good, but then playing against someone way above your skill level on any character isn’t fun.

If that does end up being the case then thats just a result of bad MM lol
