Widowmaker (Future Lore Speculation)

As far as Overwatch characters go I love Widowmakers story and how she became who she is currently in the lore but I was re-reading over the comics and in the reflections comic Widowmaker was at Gerard’s grave.

Are her treatments to make her “Widowmaker” starting to wear off or is she just feeling remorse and regret over murdering her husband?

I feel like at some point she will gain emotions again not right now though probably really far in the future from now.

Thoughts?

Maybe the “emotionlessness” is all just an act. If she really did feel remorse, she was lying to Moira in the pre-game voice line conversation they have, where Widowmaker says, “I don’t feel. That’s the point, isn’t it?”

I have always thought about that voice line since the day I heard it when it went live with Moira. She does sound like a bit of a coverup.

I think the whole “No emotions” thing is sort of a lie, she did get genetically modified and all of that but her mind hasn’t been affected by it, however, I suspect that prior to the experiment she found out quite a few things about Gerard that either put her in a bad position or simply made her hate him (though still respect him as her husband) then she requested the procedure to Moira and then she killed him since she felt no remorse whatsoever and was probably shunned by him somehow

She has a line for Ana that says: You knew nothing about him!

I speculate this means that no one knew the real Gerard and that he and widow got together not out of love but probably business (considering her family has got a castle)

I think she has already gained some that emotion back. I think she knows very well what happened, but why is the question.

Everyone calls her Lacroix, and she even went back to her ancestral home. I think Amelie is already out, how much is what I’m wondering😁

What does she think of Overwatch, does he remeber her friends, does she remeber anyone from the Overwatch team😎

We need these questions answered

Also, Moira has something to do with all this, there’s more to her then We know.

She’s an independent double agent. She knows the weaknesses of OW and Talon and she waits the right time to end this conflict by dismantling Talon… She just waits for the right time…

She says this out of anger because Ana essentially insulted her husband in front of her face by calling him a fool.

Ana: Gérard was a fool to love someone like you.
Widowmaker: You don’t know anything about him.

Widowmaker is defending him by telling Ana that she knew nothing about her husband to actually make such a bold claim that insulted the validity of their marriage.

Ana seemed to be pretty close to Gérard but seems to have always had some reservations about Amélie considering how Ana responds to Nova wearing the Widowmaker skin, meaning that she found Gérard’s choice of women to be pretty…dubious.

Nova: Ugh. I can’t believe they stuck me with you.
Ana: Amelie? There’s something different about you. Same attitude, though.

Chateau Guillard is her family’s ancestral home that her family had lost many generations beforehand, so I doubt that their relationship was merely just business.

Things that also support this is the fact that despite Widowmaker responding to most things with general disdain and apathy, Gérard is the only constant that makes her react with longing, guilt, and sadness.

It says a lot when a brainwashed victim that has had their emotive capabilities dulled keeps a photo of her wedding day at her study and goes to visit her deceased lover’s grave on Christmas.

Not to mention, wistfully saying his name at random.

I sincerely doubt that Gérard is this evil, abusive husband that a lot of people try to portray him as considering how much of a positive (despite how sad Widowmaker gets) response Gérard invokes out of her.

Not every single Blizzard game has to have a Kerrigan redemption arc.

She could be keeping it as a trophy.

Paying respects does not have to be an emotional thing.
