Althought it fits the narrative you’re trying to convey, as a very longtime Kephrii viewer I can tell you that this is not a new development. This past year, well before Widow was ever changed, he’s been playing way more Tank and Support, most notably a very memey Orisa.
As the years have progressed, it definitely feels as a viewer that he has fallen more and more out of love with Widow and the game as a whole – perhaps due to cheaters in GM and a feeling of being forced to play. And that’s totally fair. He’s tried other games but unfortunately most of his audience only cares about OW. Man’s probably exhausted of this game.
So, while for sure the Widow changes definitely do not cater towards Kephrii since he is probably the most passive Widowmaker in the game (also one of the best), I would definitely not say the changes to her have been the reason why he doesn’t play the hero as much anymore.
Other Widow streamers like TheRealKenzo remain unaffected by the change and will continue to spam the hero in comp queue. I will say though that it appears Kenzo cares less about maintaining rank and more about having fun with his favorite hero, while Kephrii is the opposite.
Very cringey flirting via text is not cheating. He and his wife at the time talked through their struggles months before any screenshots back then came to light. Regardless, it’s been many years since then and he’s matured so much.
He’s transformed himself at the gym, grown mentally, and has an amazing and supporting girlfriend. I’m sad the community will not let go of his past. It doesn’t happen as often anymore, but when Kephrii’s on Widow and popping off, it’s the most entertaining stream on Overwatch Twitch.
Kephrii is not the same person he was when he started getting popular. I hope one day people give him a chance again.
i think kephrii was more of a hold the angle widow player and a master of knowing how to position correctly while the realkenzo is a human aimbot and probably can quickscope on the run or master of close/mid range as widow. dont know how thats possible lol
maybe im wrong tho since i never watch therealkenzo much. anybody who does is he a hold the corner widow or just a widow who is so good that he is literally a widow that acts like a hanzo and is dangerous in all ranges?
In context with the rest of her kit, it is. Flying up where most other heroes can’t get to, to give a headshot.
You have to pay extra attention to places where Widow might peek around.
And she might give a headshot at close range too… There is always a risk.
Not really, if something really annoys players they’re more likely to quit. Bliz already acknowledged that one shots do that in their last minor nerf patch. It might not JUST be widow, but players might quit/not play/not buy stuff if bad matchmaking, lies, bad PR and other stuff stack up. That’s bad for the devs.
Of course my personal fun is more important than other people’s. Same applies to a widow player, having fun 1 shotting people without caring about how it affects them. But as a whole, from the devs point of view, everyone is equal and its the total fun that matters (more fun = more players = more money).
So you’re not gonna debate that 1 player making the game unfun for 2+ players on the enemy team is bad?
Good game design says “you do whatever gets you the most money”. Bad game design is not paying attention to the knock on effects and dealing with them (i.e. not nerfing snipers because they got an indirect buff). You can nerf shields so people are less annoyed by them, which they did. So, seems fair to nerf 1 shots so people are less annoyed by them, which they are also in the process of doing.
I dont really care what opinion you think “you guys” share. Debate me, not the imaginary group of people in your head.
If you can’t make 50 meters work as Widow, you should not be playing Widow. Goes to show you that people can’t play a hero when they aren’t in a super OP busted state like she was.
