Bit of both, really.
I don’t think they should have made her so squishy, but they REALLY should have taken a hard look at favor the shooter, since that’s one of the prime reasons people hate fighting her.
ESPECIALLY in regards to barriers. When a character puts up a barrier and suddenly dies to something it should have blocked just because it wasn’t “up yet” on Widow’s end, people get REALLY, somewhat justifiably angry.
Couple that with the lack of counterplay in a lot situations where a character makes the simple mistake of having a head, it’s understandable why the vast majority of players would rather Widow be on the underperforming side.

It’s not just they are going towards homogeneity when they do a 360 like they did with cass mei they replace it with b grade stuff that don’t have resources to be made.

refusing to play Widow is different than failing to play Widow.
This…feels odd. Top500 players playing Widow and saying she’s trash but still maintaining top500 with her just feels off. Clearly not too bad there, then.
If she’s only good at certain parts of a map, I fail to see the issue with that. She either holds the entire lobby hostage on a map pre-nerf, or she’s here. Which arguably is still good.
Snipers in every game have been problematic. This game featured baby’s first sniper with so few of the drawbacks that other FPS have for snipers.

The hell?! Overwatch is a hero shooter. That means its more akin to a MOBA by having specialized heros that work in specific ways.
The moment we get to change guns and camp spots for super quick TTKs is when we become an FPS game at all. Such as Battlefield, Call of Duty, CSGO, Rainbow Six Seige, PUBG, Apex Legends, Valorant.
This is an arena shooter that uses a hero system.
We are so much like a MOBA in nature that of course we’d be forming into more of a hero shooter and less of an FPS.
Lets be honest here. Widow had it coming and OWL had always shown the problem with Widowmaker entirely.
Here’s a video that shows off 30 BS reasons why Widow always needed the nerfing she deserved and what we needed to progress as a game.
PS: Old Widow would kill at all those ranges shown. That is so stupidly overpowered. Current widow can crippled, but not instantly send a player back to spawn from many of those angles. Also Kephrii used a lot BS angles like this as well. A good exampe is in Havanna. Why is he able to shoot through the boiler room like that man?!
Lol dude there’s characters that you can’t play in Top500 at all without getting flamed, and tonnes of characters who are only worth playing on specific points of specific maps, or only in specific team compositions.
Like what are you even smoking that you think Widow’s the only character who’s situational?

It’s better as a moba game. Casual players are bad and don’t want to be killed in one shot.
Just need to nerf hanzo now.
What you have to remember is most of the game resided plat and below. Many of those people can’t hit the broad side of a barn if we could we play a proper fps it tends to be a better fps experience then this.
yea i seen kephrii use angles and learn spots i would never dream of. in a way its actually lore correct lol, like on that widow/tracer animated short how widow is so far away sniping that zen looking robot dude… mondata or something forgot the name
that surely is why the range got nerfed at high rank i guess. so if they were to buff her it would probably somewhere else in her kit or a small range increase again. if she is underperfomering in high play expect it to happen
unless of course they want to just rehaul/rework one-shots altogether and make her another ashe 2.0

Had to check and see if I was remembering the right people or not, but yeah it was a thing from last year.
Apparently the conclusion reached by the operators later was to assume no cheating occurred, but it seems this guy was still removed regardless for other things that weren’t detailed in the first source I could find.
