She’s just the boogeyman of the month. Sombra, Mei, Cass, Orisa, Hanzo, even Sym… there will always be a ‘most hated’ hero. It’s just another fotm.

Widow would quite honestly be the only hero that I would be absolutely OK with if they just deleted from the roster permanently

Widowmaker’s aim was low on the first shot.
The problem with Widowmaker is that she is able to eliminate nearly any character with a single shot. No competitive game should have any character that can do that. The design has been flawed from the beginning, however, because she is attractive and sells a lot of skins they refuse to change her. if they change her fewer people would play her and they would sell fever skins simply put change of character when after 40 to 50 hours you can create a skin that will make you hundreds of thousands of dollars. So if you wonder why Widowmaker is still in the game it’s simply because it’s there cash cow.

This dumb sniper fantasy has changed so much of the game.
The effectiveness of shields and the threat of returning double shields as a meta, health increases and decreases, range nerfs, map to map to map changes, constant patches because widows were findibg rooftop spots to stand in and literally shoot at an enemy spawn route or even worse SHOOTING THROUGH WALLS/wall cracks that are not visable to the other side, they buffed mobility then nerfed mobility, armor changes made specifically for high burst which Widow is partially to hold part of the blame, the rrturn of hanzo one shot, the reduction of Soljorn one shots, Mercy nerfs to boost beam, Lucio losing some of his speed.
Like a lot of things in the game are substatially Widow players faults for abusing the game and only ever mastering a single gun rather then what OW is, hero kits and teamwork.
almost any FPS has such weapons and many are far more competitive then Overwatch.
Overwatch is far more casual then it is competitive.

It’s not, she’s fundamentally broken. Hitscans should not be a one shot ever. At least Hanzo has to predict your movement and charge up even slower than Widow to get a headshot kill.
Widow just sits back behind a shield, with a Juno/Brig combo (Sometimes Juno/Mercy), and is unable to be contested.
Her one shot needs to be turned to a DoT, or go away completely. There’s no reason a HITSCAN needs a one shot on their primary, really with how easy it is to aim after S9.
Other games that have snipers also require a great deal of skill to play those snipers. This game does not require skill to play Widowmaker. It just requires a half decent aim and firing into a crowd. It is just the stupidest idea of any character for a game like this. And again the only reason they’ve never changed Widowmaker is simply because she sells skins and they want people to play her so they buy those skins.
