How about this for Widowmaker.
Headshot damage reduced to 150
This will allow other hitscans to compete with her but landing a headshot as Widowmaker will still give you a large advantage to whoever she is dueling and will not have to land another headshot or even fully charge to get the kill. However this will still give her a learning curve and a high skill celling as good players will headshot and then accurately predict the % needed to finish off the hero. And even better players can headshot and then quickly retap the head for the quickest kill possible.
Now has 3 mines
Having 3 mines will keep Widowmaker more safe, protecting mutiple routes to her or having a line of them so she can have early and late warnings of him coming heros. This will improve Widowmakers survivability and so she will be able to put out more damage overall per game. Balancing out the headshot change.
Vemon Mine now has a larger aoe and team wide Infra-Sight
The player who triggers the mine will receive a bit of damage as it already does and teammates close by will too. However the player who triggers it will not only show to Widowmaker but will for the whole team for 4 seconds (?).
Alternative add on buff
Mine has an even larger area of effect when triggered and Infra-Sight will show the whole team but will now have a fall off. The player triggering the mine will be shown for 3 seconds (?). Players who are 2 meters away for 2 seconds (?). And players 3 meters away will be shown for 1 second.
So you can imagine Infra-Sight will bloom, spreading out and then back in again.
Mine now has 50 health
This should hopefully mean it doesn’t get destory by accident.
**The overall goal **
This should move widows power from her one shot into her kit while still being a very deadly sniper. This will also balance her out more in all ranks due to providing information to her team and not just relying on her to only hit shots. All without having to rework her. This might actually be something you can make in the workshop already.
I also think these changes sound really fun to use. Setting up all these mines and locations before a fight, using them in a tacticful way, maybe one on spawn door, one on point so if it goes off the team knows whos there. I think it will definitely keep her fun to play.
The problems
I think it’s definitely important to list possible problems and changes in metas with changes to heros like this.
The first problem and biggest would probably be, is this too powerful for double sniper comps? Having 3 infer-sight mines, a Widow ult and Hanzo sonic arrow. Doesn’t really sound fun at all. Though hopefully with short times on the mines this will not restrict players too much and I don’t believe sonic arrow does that. Though if still powerful prehaps without the additional extra mine buff or maybe just reducing it down two 2 mines if necessary will solve the this problem. Or even just changing Hanzo a bit.
Stacking mines might be a problem. It might be too powerful to liter them all over the choke point and have them all go off at once. Maybe the effects just shouldn’t stack? Especially with the damage. And hopefully with appropriate cooldowns it would not be viable to waste them all right away.
So yeah. Those are my ideas.
