Widowmaker Balance Changes

So how do you all want her to be nerfed exactly?

According to Overbuff,she isn’t exactly overperforming (Roughly 2% pickrate and 50% winrate across all ranks and a 4% pickrate and 54% winrate for GM) so I don’t see why people are saying she’s “overpowered”.

Do you want her one shots to be removed? If so,how do you make sure she doesn’t become a way worse version of Ashe or Ashe 2.0?

Do you want her to have 150HP? If so,then she needs to have Tracer levels of mobility with some sort of self-heal ability which would lead to more complaining.

A nerf to her mobility CD perhaps? But that would require her to get a damage buff in turn so she doesn’t become an F tier hero and get hard countered by Winston existing.

Yes and no.

150hp is the solution. She shares the same hitbox as Tracer, she has the same lethality as Tracer with the benefit of no range limit, and she has the sheer power to 1v1 any DPS in the game.

To successfully kill a Widow as a dive char, you need to be in a position where she cannot anticipate your approach, AND get the one-shot off quick enough before she escapes with grapple.

She needs dive to be her counter. In a game of rock-paper-scissors, Widow is the gun. She just has no solid counter other than herself.
I believe she should counter sustain DPS, who counter dive DPS, who counter sniper DPS. Ez.

This is option 2. Allow her to be dove by the likes of Winston, Tracer etc with ease, by disabling grapple whilst she’s taking damage. Simple. Although I believe that this would just lead to Widow’s being constantly pocketed, much like Ashe.

At some point we need to stop worrying about counter pick/hard counter and spend time to improve our own game play instead.

Personally,I don’t have problems playing against Widow. I might have 100+ hours on the hero,but I’m a Sym/Sombra main.

Widowmaker doesn’t deserve to deal more than 200DMG per headshot, plain and simple. She’s supposed to counter squishy heroes not the whole cast for christ sake. I’ll consider her balanced when she won’t deal as much damage per shot and charge her gun so quickly and be so strong to the point that she doesn’t actually need to charge it to 100% to kill someone, that’s just complete BS.
Maybe nerf her HP too considering how slim she is yet she’s always standing so far away.

Why does anyone believe a third party website that get 1/10th of the actual game information?

Because unless Blizzard creates a website with the actual stats,it’s the closest thing we’ll have to accurate info.

Some people on here said that when the devs revealed stats about certain heroes,they weren’t far off from what Overbuff was showing.

And no,going off of personal feelings isn’t any better cause by that logic,Bastion would need a nerf for lower ranks.

But she does have weaknesses?

She gets countered by flankers and other highly mobile heroes. Hook’s CD is 12 seconds. Other mobility abilities usually have CDs around 6 seconds or less.

She might have a powerful primary fire,but without good mechanical skill,she’s a liability and compared to most other DPS heroes,she doesn’t have any abilities that do good damage. Venom Mine’s damage is a joke and her ult does no damage either.

Whereas Ashe for example has Dynamite and BOB as damaging tools.

Congrats,you just made Widow useless and Ashe the superior hero in every sense.

And with good mechanics you just oneshot everything and only a coordinated dive will actually do anything to her, and even if you do get it off there’s still a good chance she’s gonna click a head, you can’t just say she’s gonna miss, rn she’s zen if zen had guardian angel

Game’s been out for over 4 years. Widow has existed since Day One. It’s your problem if you don’t know how to play against her. Especially now that sustain got nerfed pretty heavily.

no she doesn’t, she is supposed to be a sniper who stays in the backlines, she should not be able to easily escape anyone diving her

Considering that’s how she is now. Her mobility CD is one of the highest at 12 seconds.

And besides,if nobody is contesting her,that’s not her fault.

Ah yes, just dive her 4head, when she’s more than 1 dive from cover so you have to expose yourself to her, and even when you do she grapples to a different highground and kills you/your team. Have you never played against a high level widow player?

No,but

  1. most people complaining about her here are from Gold/Platinum and I highly doubt they’re facing freaking Kephrii or something every day.
  2. and so what? are people not allowed to get better at the game? if that’s the case,then what’s the point in the Ranked system? a hero with an infinite skill ceiling is good at the highest ranks. big shocker.

I beg you to play literally any other FPS. Those don’t have high mobility heroes,barriers,CC or tanks. And snipers can one shot everything with a body shot. Even if you have armor equipped in games like Valorant.

Tracer and Baby D.Va have 150HP for a reason.

they also both have to engage in close combat in order to deal a decent amount of damage, while widow can stay 60 meters away and 1 shot any squishy

Yes and in mech,D.Va can also use micro missiles to do damage,not to mention Self Destruct.

Tracer has Pulse Bomb which charges pretty quickly.
