Widow is a glass cannon without the glass

She was in an excellent spot with 175 hp. The fact that they removed a tank, thus making the game more favourable for her while also buffing her hp back to 200 was a grave mistake. The edits to maps, like adding an extra car to dorado first, absolutely do not adequately make up for this.

I dislike ranged one shots very strongly, but I understand that it’s her identity. She needs to have some sort of proper weakness for it, though. Bring back 175 Widow.

I didn’t really want to say this but honestly the only people who don’t complain about widow are either widow players themselves, or players who aren’t at a high enough skill tier to face off against good ones. She takes the entire lobby hostage and outputs extreme pressure just by having a sightline. She singlehandedly changes the dynamic and “allowed” movement of a match in a massive way.

It’s good to know based on yesterday’s interview that the devs are considering dropping her hp based on all of this. Consider it a thumbs up from me tbh

No she wasn’t. Her hp is not the issue with the character, her issue is the way her sniper functions. Nerfing her hp will not address the root issue of the character while also making her feel worse to play. Her gun needs to be nerfed/reworked, that is the only way they can work towards a balanced Widowmaker. There are multiple characters that two-shot and multiple sniper characters. Widow without her long range hitscan ohk will not suddenly stop being a sniper nor will her kit automatically have to become Ash’s.

If they don’t fix the root cause of her issue, people are just going to leave like they’ve been doing and when the ship sinks, all the people trying to defend her broken gun are just going to move onto the next game to exploit the next broken mechanic and either blame the community or have no clue as to why the game died.

This has been my feeling as well.

I’ve long felt widow should have base damage more in line with Ashe, slightly higher damage, with a slower firing rate-

But an ability that temporarily gives her what is essentially magnum ammo, that enables the one shot.

There’s a lot of ways you could play with the mechanics of this. Maybe just a straight temporary ability, for the next X seconds kind of thing. Maybe her next X shots are magnum until she zooms out, so she can take all the time she needs but once she exits zoom it goes on cooldown, etc.

Give it some audio and visual effects, and an appreciable downtime.

She keeps the “one shot”, but isn’t built entirely around it.
