Can we get rid of this anytime soon? I shouldn’t have 3 matches in a row as solo queue where the matchmaking range is 700+ SR difference. It’s not enjoyable hoping the enemy doesn’t realize and target my clueless ana because people decided to wide queue. All it does is make the horrendous match quality worse.

But you won’t be in a wide match unless you queue with someone to make one?
This is very wrong matchmaking has been made loose to accommodate for stacking players. Very fun to be stuck as the solo queue player in these matches.

Solo players cannot be in the same lobbies as wide groups. Wide groups are only 2/3/5 stacks. Unless we are talking about open queue, which is so dead that anyone can be in wide games to have faster queues.
Wide match making kicks in when players with a wide ELO / MMR group together (pretty common with friends) or when the queue timer takes too long trying to find other players to get the match started. As the OW2 population gets smaller, more wide matches are started to compensate – this happens more frequently during a region’s off-peak hours.
The player pool is finite, so the fewer the available players, the more wide matches will happen. Player pools are also subdivided by ping / latency range, console vs. pc, etc.
I’m just hallucinating the matches I played solo where I see 1.5 ranks in difference? Where I invite to group on both sides to see grouped members? Where I checked their profile and quite literally see their rank?
Role queue
I know why they do it that doesn’t change how miserable these matches are where everyone isn’t on the same page. I’ve never experienced this many times in a row ever even at off peak hours.
Are you sure you were looking at the role they were actually on? As blizz has stated, wide group matches cannot have solo players in them. It is only groups. Wide groups with wide groups.
Unfortunately there is no solution other than assembling your own full groups so that you can screen out underperformers. Even so, there is no guarantee that the other team will be at a significantly higher ELO / MMR thanks to low available player population and smurfing.
The Problem is Lack of players in this game, If this game had 1-2m active players everyday Matchmaking/Wide Matchmaking will feel more Fair as opposed to now.
I play open queue frequently to knock out daily and weekly challenges, and there is no shortage of 3+ DPS players insta-lock and never change to counter the 3+ tanks on the opposing team. However, the wait times are almost always faster than role queue.

That is also because there are no roles, and every match can be a wide match. Pretty much anyone in queue can be matched together there. As long as there are similar mmr players to put on the enemy team to balance it out.
According to blizzard, 4 stacks arent allowed in wide groups. Was probably 2 duos, but issue atm isnt wide groups its the matchmaking being broken. Multiple posts about it in past few weeks. Ever since bug patch 2 weeks ago its been a nightmare both Qp and comp. I normally play vs silver/ gold but im suddenly facing masters every game.
I never said they were 4 stacks they were duos/trios. I’m complaining about wide matches in general as a solo queue player when people decide to queue with their buddy leaps and bounds lower in skill level and tank the feel/quality of matches.

Server match making in this game is a pure joke.
If you look at their “lead engineer” for their game’s match maker and their resume listed on Linkdin a person would think this individual has impressive skills to be qualified to write a match maker…
Just based upon how match making acts in this game. It is safe to say that someone’s parents paid off their college.

The fact that e.g.
plat 2 - diamond 2
gold 3 - plat 3
are NOT considered wide doesn’t feel right to me.
From the wiki: Any groups with Diamond or lower ranked players that are more than five Skill Divisions apart are a Wide Group.

According to all the fan boys and girls this NEVER happens and it’s all in your head. Yet daily there is evidence of this happening to everyone. This is the major reason why I and all my friends quit.

That’s actually absurd a dia 2 dps player should win the majority of their duels with a plat 2 support
