Why would I play harder heroes when I can get more value out of easier heroes?

The amount of value easier heroes have gotten is getting a bit ridiculous.

  • Ana: Arguably one of the hardest heroes in the game to play. But why would I play her when she’s so susceptible to damage and other heroes can do a more consistent job of healing and keeping their team alive?

  • Sombra: Also a very hard hero to play whose value is undermined by the fact she provides no help during teamfights because of her low damage. Every other DPS can do what she does better.

  • Brigitte: Why wouldn’t I play her? The armor she provides lowers the effective power of EVERY hero in the game while being able to Stun, and Provide great burst healing; as well as doing fairly high DPS. This is all while she’s protected with a shield that has as much health as Roadhog.
  • Mercy: Why wouldn’t I play her when she not only has the easiest time healing, but also can provide a damage boost and quickly escape enemies; while also having the most powerful ability for team games in general on a 30 second cooldown.

We need to increase the value of high skill heroes when they’re mastered and lower the maximum value of low skill heroes.

I’m all for having low-skill, relatively high-reward heroes but when it comes to characters like Brig, it’s asinine.

Brig is the worst. I agree with you 100%, its like all reward, no risk. She can virtually 1v1 almost every dps hero in the game. Outside maybe junk, pharah or widow

She’s designed to excel in a 1v1 situation.

She does it a bit too well though. I’d like to see them take some more power from her killing, and stick it in her actual support abilities, even if just as a test on the PTR.

It’s a game, you play for fun.

oh right we forgot that only brig players deserve to have fun, my bad

This is the correct answer. You play harder heroes because they are more fun. If all you want to do is squeeze value out of a character, it is better in ANY game to play easier heroes. But, if you are willing to put in the effort, the hard ones are going to give you more value regardless.

So you’re one of those players that isn’t having fun unless you’re winning? Righto

I know that. I’m trying to say that it can be pretty unfun to play these higher skilled heroes when they’re shut down easily as opposed to easy heroes like Brigitte.

Play Brigitte and other Supports. She’s great against people that don’t know how to deal with her but on her bad maps enemies that know how to counter her will pick her apart.

What you really mean to say is why play off meta heroes when meta nets me more gains and less SR loss the higher I climb?

This game was very rewarding when you played high skill heroes. But ever since Brigitte it seems like they are catering more to the casuals.

I loved this game, I even bought all new hardware to run this at 300fps. But now this game is a meme and I log in here and there just to see how the game is. Thank god MHW just came out for pc so it keeps me away from Overwatch.

this argument doesnt even apply but im not going to even discuss it since you still wont understand

my comment would automatically become valid for you if i put genji/doomfist/tracer instead so theres that too

…It certainly helps to feel a little bit of validation for your 5,000,000 hours practicing wallriding.

So, your argument is that you CAN kill her on CERTAIN maps with her HARD COUNTERS? With any other hero playing against your hard counter is reportable.

Idk, it’s almost as if there’s a whole world of players out there with varied levels of mechanical skill. Many of whom will, unfortunately, for some reason or other, never be able to master higher skilled heroes like Widow or Ana and who are only able to be decent with easier heroes like Brig, Mercy, or Moira.

Should they not be able to play and enjoy the game too? And be able to play it at a level high enough that they are getting value out of the game?

I get that some heroes are easier to use, but I’m not sure how they can keep the game accessible if they make all heroes difficult to use. Maybe there should be incentives added to encourage the use of higher skilled heroes? I have no idea how they’d implement this. Maybe you could get more SR if you use Ana instead of Brig or Mercy. But idk, that might just further fracture the player base. I just think there should be a way to encourage using higher skilled heroes without completely removing easier heroes.

If I may rebutt, I have poured countless hours into Lucio whether it is in aim practice avoiding snipers, trying to perfect my movement and crossfade, learning all the wallride shortcuts on all of the maps. And yet I am still high silver-low gold. I understand that the (and I mean this in the best possible way) scrubs need to have their fun and reach new heights, but why is it that countless people and I are being punished for not taking the easy way out? Should we not be able to play and enjoy the game at a level high enough that we are getting value out of the game?

P.S. I’m not complaining about my rank, I belong there as I can only play tanks and off healers. It just gets frustrating seeing blatant mistakes being made by GM brigitte’s while if I have a minor slip up I get absolutely destroyed.

They went too far though.

I mean, I love Brig, but still. She was designed to be a tank-support hybrid, but 1v1s better than any hero in the Tank or Support roster, except possibly Roadhog.

What the heffle? Brig is easy as heck to deal with and negate her value. Just because you have trouble dealing with her doesn’t mean others do.

But back to the topic, this may be hard to believe but some people play higher skill characters for fun. I love the likes of Ana and Mccree and dislike playing Mercy and bridgette and I still get a lot of value from these characters even if I may make some mistakes.

Sombra actually has some problems of her own and ana is finding her way into more games since they are nerfing mercy cause of arguments like these.

Nope my argument would be certain maps have verticality and wide sight lines for her just to be cannon fodder for people that understand her limitations.

Once you boop Rein out the way or break his shield she’s open to being picked off from multiple angles.

As I said before, she ain’t meta for a reason. She’s got one great team comp she fits in and a limited map pool that she is effective on. You can’t run her with every tank. What is she and Winston going to do together? Her and Dva or Roadhog? And ya usually need two more supports with her since she can’t sustain consistently.

I’m more we have balanced heroes regardless of their difficulty. Your logic suggests they treat Mercy as training wheels then somewhere along the lines pick up Ana. But if Ana is strictly better why have training wheels? High skill heroes and low skill heroes should be on relatively equal footing otherwise why wven bother coding em in to collect dust?

They already did that. Brig doesnt have the best usefullness in GM. She is only good in lower tiers. So that means other heros are better if you are skillful
