Can hypothetically kill 10 squishies before reloading. WAYYYYYY more than any other dps in the game aside from spamzo, who also happens to be able to one shot.

Widow was the cause of damage creep and the need for Ana as a high healing support. Therefore, bayblade. Honestly though, nano was just broken and reaper had no answers.
Triple tank
1 shots are the highest damage in the game. Other DPS need to be competitive with that. That means all damage is high. That makes shield tanks REQUIRED and other tanks to need high mitigation. Back in the days before 222, solo tanks needed to be powerful on their own, because people didnt want to tank - many games were 3+dps. Stack 3 tanks able to solo and suddenly you have something very powerful.
Dive
Damage was very high because widow, so dive was competitive because it instantly obliterated the enemy team HOPEFULLY before widow could obliterate your team.
This is all so wrong I don’t even know where to begin.
You know Ana was like planned and ready to go at the launch of Overwatch, and at this point in the game there were only three healers? AND Widowmaker ignores healing anyway, cuz that’s how burst damage works?
Widowmaker wasn’t used at this point. The meta DPS in triple Tank was Soldier for Shield Break, and that’s it. Hog was run because he was basically another DPS and also good at shield break.
I think the thing that made shield tanks required was that there was only 1 anchor tank in Reinhardt. Who else were you going to play around as a tank? Reinhardt also combo’d well with every other tank.
And yet it was called Triple Tank, because many games weren’t 3 DPS.
You know that Dive heroes all have really low damage outputs, right? Hence the need for coordinated pouncing on a discorded target?
Dive came about because Ana and Roadhog were nerfed.
Ana lost her damage and bionade’s healing was halved. She couldn’t keep a team of tanks up on her own, and she couldnt’ defend herself. Hog lost his damage. He stopped being an anti-flanker, and started being an ult battery for dive heroes.
At around this time, D.Va was given 4 seconds on Defense Matrix with the resource meter, further reducing the effectiveness of Ana and Hog. Throughout all of this, Mercy has been a weak joke.
So at the start of DIve, we have Reinhardt without a throughput healer and minimal help from the support category. All the real threats to Genji, Tracer, D.Va, and Winston have been taken care of. Lucio is still powerful and can keep up with the Dive heroes, Zen can provide long ranged damage and has discord. YOu’ve got two powerful support ultimates. Dive.
Once Mercy got her rework, Widowmaker was placed back into the fold. Winston couldn’t harm Widow through Mercy’s healing, and with the movement tech Mercy could keep up with D.Va, Winston and Tracer if she had to.
Widowmaker didn’t drive anything for the first year and a half of the game.

Widow has always existed, therefore she’s always driven up the damage of other heroes, even before the game was released.
Shield tanks have always been required because of 1 shots and high damage. Its just the common sense safe option.
3+DPS comps mean solo tanks HAVE to be powerful to deal with 3+ DPS. Add 2 more tanks powerful enough to solo tank 3+DPS and you have a 3 tank comp problem.
Yes, thats why dive was a race between your team popping the incoming divers and the divers popping your healers. Widow caused this race, as she’s the fastest popper.
That’s the absolut basic description of a sniper in any FPS.
A widow who hits every shot a headshot deserves to be a god … and if the Widow isn’t that good and still get HS after HS it’s your fault and you deserve it.
-Healing creep (Ana) drove damage up so average DPS could make bank. Why average dps? because:
-Widow wasn’t viable until masters or at least diamond, ruling out at least 85% of player base.
-Shield tanks have been required because they anchor the team and you only had one shield tank - Reinhardt. BORING.
-Stacking healing with meaty dps (tanks) and applying speed boost to the comp and overwhelming the enemy frontline so you can play the objective because neither widowmaker or hanzo can contest, while brigitte armor makes other dps irrelevant (or rather they can’t kill through overlapping aoe heals or flank) is the reason for GOATS.
No movement acceleration and tons of mobility abilities, and shields being so good, even makes ow sniper the most inconsistent of all. And yet people complain and complain.
