Why was the group finder removed?

The group finder was one of OW1 best features, why was it removed with the launch of OW2?

Not to say its bad or anything but I dont know a single other OW player that used the group finder. What was the point of it?

Its possible that it was just removed because nobody was usijg it.

Devs probably forgot. Busy making green legendary skins for junkerqueen.

To find players for a specific mode and that was using mics, great way to find new people to vibe with. OW2 seems almost anti-social

This lol, this will definitely push me away if this isnt put back. Solo queuing is not fun.

that’s indeed a good question. i tought it’s a bug but seems like they really just removed it.

They just said it was removed. Honestly don’t think it was used that much to keep around. Most players use Discord or other means to find groups. Or they already have friends they play with.

There was usually around 20 to 40 groups wich is arond 120 to 200+ players, not a massive amount but certainly not a small one. Especially if you consider that it was during ow1 decline.

At the same time, there’s a mix of trolls in that as well.

As a lot have mentioned, we might get clans or guilds eventually. Who knows?

Right but the main purpose was to find people when you friends arent on, so even if you are in a clan/guild, if non of your mates are on you are stuck with matchmaking randoms and are lucky if even one other person joins team chat

same reason all the other things were removed, they’re trying to make the game as bare bones as possible so they can release the concepts that were already created and call it ā€œfree content updateā€

expect a ā€œwe listened and we’re being more transparentā€

Probably because they intend to bring some kind of Guild feature.

Bro what? Everyone I know uses the LFG. That’s the only way overwatch was fun due to finding random people every night and having a blast with them, and for it not to be in the game ruins the whole experience. In Ow1, having an entire group of people talking to each other is much better than being silent for 10 minutes every game. But now Ow2 doesn’t have it. Plus making an LFG on Xbox is terrible compared to the old LFG system. So Idk what rock you were living under.

Keep in mind that the 20-40 VISIBLE groups in group finder are only the groups that are not currently in a match, all the full groups aren’t listed. LFG had a lot more people using it than you think.

In a good group we’d only have to pick up another player every 3-4 matches.

The point was finding a group. Obviously players are asking for it, so they used it…

Anyway, I think it’s not in here because the overall front end of OW2 is half baked.

Group finder was the only way myself and countless others made friends in OW! It can be really difficult to find mic users if just shuffling through random matches.

It makes it so easy to find a group of people that want to play the same game modes and intensity. (Not everyone wants to tryhard)

Ive already began to notice the general decline in team morales since no one has a choice of playing with intentional teammates vs randoms. Most matches are just calling out the ā€œbadā€ players in chat.

Most of what I saw in it was people selling accounts and looking to make derank groups and throw.

So will the devs even speak on this or will i just have to vote with my wallet?

They want the game to die. It’s on sunset mode from a sellout studio.
It was a quick cash grab. A pump n’ dump scheme. Hype kids via shadow marketing, bait them in with influencers stomping whitelisted lobbies, and the rest get to be miserable until they quit.

Why they can’t bring back LFG i have no idea. The code is surely still there from OW1. Patch it in already. It would be an afternoon for an intern, even a hiring test to see them get LFG working within a day or two.

Its amazing how many problems would be fixed if they just reverted back to O1
