Why was Mauga buffed immediately after his nerfs?

He’s absolutely busted again and he sucks the fun out of every match he’s in.

If he was underperforming then it makes sense why they wanted to buff him. It makes no sense to give him four buffs in one patch though.

Funny because it took them a week to nerf him and another week to buff him.

Lifeweaver took more than an entire season to even be buffed into viability and Illari got nuked and hasn’t seen any love at all since.

They for whatever reason are focusing in so hard on Mauga right now that we’re literally just playing “Is Mauga OP this week or not?”

They should’ve left him as he was and let him see actual competitive play before gigabuffing him again.

Or start out with a single buff to just help him ans tune him properly if he is overperforming.

These design aspects they keep releasing scream that they are skipping steps.

That’s how you know they’re not trying. There’s no effort in the balancing because there is too many things that feel horrible to play as or against.

Again they need to drop this “satistical balancing” idea and their “we like this” and start realizing fun is the priority. Its not to get a job done, its not to get more money, its not even to save the company’s reputation.

You are a service that has promised so many times, that it should be considered an oath, to your own players that you will put forth the effort you will focus on the fun.

But cutting corners, ignoring how the gameplay feels for the minority, then never addressing issues besides buffing everything else makes it feel like they just don’t care. For them from this balance, its a 9 to 5 job and that’s all that matters.

Well a ton of players keep telling you that that is what causes failure. And they won’t listen

How else will be he “impactful” for competitive. They still have BPs to sell.

His nerfs lasted TWO DAYS before they megabuffed him once again.
How is two days enough data to evaluate the changes?
The dev responsible for balance changes is just throwing darts on the wall.

They want Mauga to be overpowered to sell battle passes but at least they could be a bit more subtle about it.

It’s been a week, but I agree with the sentiment. I’m really struggling to find the motivation to play this season with Mauga generally ruining my enjoyment.

They want to move ppl from Sigma meta that exists since his release

Mauga is probably going to have the exact same issue as Bastion. If they nerf him then he will be too weak and not worth playing in competitive. If they buff him he will be broken and very unfun to play against.

Lifeweaver needed a soft rework and buffs afterwards to be viable. His old passive helped the enemy team more than his own and had several downsides to his kit.

Mauga just need his ignite change reverted and whatever softball Ana changes in Season 9.

While that would’ve been ideal. The test from the blizcon weekend and during his quickplay release shown he toppled over easily, so buffs were needed.

It’s damned if they do and damned if they don’t change him.

I agree he needed buffs from blizzcon weekend.

I don’t think he needed any major buffs after his nerfs. He just needed the incendiary change reverted.

The rest of his problems lie in Biotic nade rendering a few tanks obsolete, him included. As well as having no genuine dmg mitigation outside of healing.

Because the developers themselves don’t know what the game should look like in the end.

Him also being the size of a fridge means he gets shredded just as fast and easy to land nade or sleep on.

I’ve found just cutting off line of sight with his healers as Mei and saving Blizzard for his cage match, he crumbles fast.

Sure the community will find the most optimal comp to counter and enable him within the next couple of weeks. But I’m more worried matchmaking has been screwed with again causing more lopsided matches then usual.

They should err towards the side of useless.

I hate to say it, but I pretty much hate tanks that heal themselves. Shields like Zarya and Sigma that Regen out of combat are fine. Healing through doing damage is frustrating from both sides of the equation.

Roadhog, Mauga, Queen, and Doom… I honestly wouldn’t mind if all of them were gutter tier.

i’m so tired of this hero :slightly_smiling_face:

went from being hyped for his release for years to …

an absolute cancer machine. wish he was never added to the game and all the years being excited for him just went down the drain

And that should be how it is. Heroes like Mauga and Bastion that suck the fun out of every game deserve to be F tier garbage

It’s likely that someone at the Blizzard corporate meeting brought up the point that buffing him right before Christmas would drastically increase the sales of battle passes because the kiddies on Christmas vacation will beg their parents to buy it for them so they can play the busted character that looks like something out of the Disney movie Moana.

And to be honest I can’t say that they are wrong.

So… sombra widow honzo mei bastion mauga zarya hog doom mercy kiri ana bap… i could go on. Everyone finds a hero annoying hun. He has been out 2 weeks and is obviously designed around 6v6. Give it time. I’m sure he will eventually be ok. We survived orisa mercy and zarya bastion. We can survive mauga.

Personally i think they should put his damage back to 4.5 and rework overdrive entirely.

At least they are trying.
