His ult needed to be nerfed because of how fast it could be charged but then the grenade size got reduced for no apparent reason? It couldn’t possible be because of spam because Hanzo’s arrow spam is, believe it or not, a lot deadlier and hits more often that Junkrat’s ever could.
Because he could kill the other “close range dps heroes” too easily. So instead of making all those heroes better, they made junkrat suck.
Gold players complained
The lower ranks complained about it, despite it being the slowest projectile in the game.
Every week or two there was someone complaining about his spam. Then they decided to go turbo nerf with him.
Now they’re not Willing to revert so they’re trying everything but a revert
bronze players who ran headfirst into his nades complained
I’ll agree to .3 revert if his headhit box size goes up 33% as well. Seems like a fair trade off I think.
I don’t remember exactly (look for the Comments under the patch notes from the release of the change), but I always thought it was make “tripping over” grenades less common.
What I mean by trip is this:
Junkrat fires at you, misses. While you continue to evade the oncoming assault, the first grenade bounces against the wall behind you and you sort of “trip over” the grenade that was on its final few mini-bounces and take full damage as if it was a direct hit.
Sometimes, the knockback from that grenade would be enough to push you into the path of another, which would kill most heroes.
Junkrat could generate a lot of Ultimate charge from this even if it rarely resulted in a kill. Considering how strong R.I.P Tire was at the time and that Junkrat just had to aim in a general area, it was a lot of reward for very little effort.
But that’s only what I assumed.
Because getting hit by a beach ball for over half your health isn’t fun, especially for a hero that has the potential to spam just as effectively as aiming for some.
I dont think getting sniped by a Widow I couldnt even see is very fun but thats allowed.
He got cheap kills was why when people clearly dodged it. Those cheap kills also led to faster tires.
Junkrat is in a real good place right now by the way. He’s strong in the right hands but he does need healing or he will not perform well.
Yeah, Blizzard really pulled something there. They touched every single part of his kit that didn’t need touching, then left his universally loathed ult-charge alone.
He is not going to be in a good place until they fix him or nerf GOATS and probably then Widow

Yeah that may explain why it got nerfed.
No reason at all. Instead of nerfing his ult rate (which people asked for in the first place…), they instead nerfed the one thing that made him viable.
It made near misses in the target fov actually miss. The change was too specific to simply be bronzies complaining, someone at blizz clearly wanted this.
Sym got her buff during that period which made it faster and explode on contact (For the same amount of damage at full charge but also able to be released prematurely as for a quick damage follow up.) as well, and that’s when Junkrat 0.3 projectile nerf came in.
It was only recently that Junkrat nade officially graduate from the slowest, to one of the few slowest and Sym being the slower one.
because they balance for owl, and for owl they need junkrat to be direct-hit character (how he got more damage, faster projectiles, less bouncing and smaller damage)
Same with symm and torb honestly, less niche, more “normal”
