WHY the heck does Quick Play have penalties?

It’s literally the chill mode. The casual mode. WHY are you punishing people when they leave? If I need to go, I need to go.

It’s not a matter of me rage quitting, and even if people wanna rage quit, they should be allowed to since the mode ISN’T SERIOUS.

People shop lobbies and ruin too many matches. Who likes backfilling?

If you need to go, and you go- then you’ve left. Those timers are pretty short for the first few and will be well over when you get back.

It is called “quick play” not “leave play”.

If you want to leave modes freely, there is custom games for you.

Ive never minded backfilling as the mode is not to be taken seriously anyway hence why backfilling is allowed.

It’s literally a team mode.

Amd your actions impact the play experience of others.

If you cannot accept this, play DM.

Or maybe team.games aren’t for you.

Its called “quickplay” not “competitive play” :man_shrugging:t6:

Because in whatever season it was that made comp complete trash… A lot of the try hards went to quick play and got super salty and cried hard that they were tired of people leaving their matches and demanded it be treated like comp… So the leaving punishment was put in play. Though people still leave matches or just throw.

Not that I never leave games, it does seem silly to punish people for leaving non-comp games.

It might be casual, but having people leave in the middle of every game still sucks.

Unless that person sucks anyways and then u get someone that actually tries and knows what they are doing.

Sometimes I wish some people would leave some of the matches when they arent doing anything but running in by themselves and dying

because the other 9 people in said match, plus Blizzard, are counting on each player to meet the terms of the social contract they themselves requested

when contracts are broken, it is common for penalties to be assessed

the leaver penalties already account for that…one has to leave multiple times to be penalized

Then go. But if you need to go like every 5th game, maybe don’t.

Though I agree the penalties have been made a bit too strict, I think you already get one after 2 leaves? If so, that’s too much. Before when you could leave 4 games out of 20 without issue it was fine imo. I wouldn’t know because I don’t leave :woman_shrugging:

I honestly dont mind it… There are times where I help the team come back from an almost loss. But they do need to make a cut off point for backfilling. Cuz whats the point to backfill then instant defeat on ur screen lol

so chill…why take it so seriously that you need to leave matches?

speaking of…and i love/hate to point it out again…but im STILL waiting on my first backfill since the penalties were implemented (no…im not exaggerating)

basically its the best change ever

I had one game where there was a super blatant cheater. Full hard lock. Left it.

The very next game had 2 players on my team actively trolling and throwing- one was a mei, the other was a life weaver. Walls at spawn to lock people in, walls to block people off and trying to get them killed, weaver pulls on cooldown to disrupt you. Etc. it was a control map- they started doing this at the end of the first round, but we were able to win it. They did it through the second round, and into the third- which is when I left.

Didn’t think much of it until about 12ish games later the next day or so, when the match maker decided to stick me into a server on another continent. Had like 600-800 ping.

No worries I’ll just back out and oh- leaver penalty if I leave. Well sorry guys looks like you’re stuck with a tank playing in mud.

I don’t mind the leave penalty. But 2 games in 20 is a bit tight.

They should really just fix the matchmaking thats what everyones asking for, some lobbies are just a huge drag. you know a game is bad when you are winning and still feel bored. Nobody wants to stay in a match of you being stomped the whole game. With competitive you KNOW you will be punished and it is your fault for leaving because you chose to play it despite knowing the rules. Qp is just casual fun and screwing around

because of opening up the game to the free to play crowd, on top of a trash matchmaker… the quality of matches are so bad ppl dont want to waste their time being stomped…even stomping a team that basically cant fight back is boring. then there are the trash game modes like push and flash.

Chill/Casual =/= No rules or expectations

Overwatch has rules/expectaions, things like no cheating/hacking, or throwing, you are expected to try to win the game, ect. You cant do whatever you want.

Leavers regardless of reason negatively impact the game. Backfilling attepts to fix those issues caused by leavers, but its a stopgap measure.

Is the system we have perfect? Heck no, but its far better then no system at all. (FYI the xp penalty was effectively no system)

Most people do not leave games frequently enough for this penalty to effect them consistantly. Its designed to target the players that leave a considerable number of games.

Nothing is stoping you from leaving, if you want or need to leave go right ahead.

But actions have consequences, this being a online video games does not mean there are no consequences.
