Because they want to cater to casual players and they get upset when they see their Winrate without having to use a spreadsheet.

they’re hoping that you’ll see that you’re ranked Gold 5 (as an example) and forget that you’re in demotion protection from the last game, so you’re more likely to queue up
if you were reminded of how close you are to hitting Silver every time you queued, you might be more tempted to stop playing.
