How often is a play made within that 5M difference in the ladder?
You have no idea. I don’t think people pay as much attention to these distances and such as you claim. I’m sure you’ll notice it after a few times, but for the most part meh. As ladder Dvas aren’t making a within 5m type of play.

Most of the ladder doesn’t operate in that sort of degree. And, it’s one thing with an autoaim ability that tells you EXACTLY what you’re capable of. Having that reduce will def be felt.
Using DMatrix is very abstract. You really don’t know just how far it goes etc. You WILL feel the reduction in range, of course, but most people, within their general Dva use under like Diamond, probably wouldn’t stop and pause and be like “yo did something change?”
As ladder is just so chaotic to begin with.
Edit: Again, I’m currently feeling against these Dva changes. I feel it’s unnecessary. I’ve also played a lot of Dva in a lot of settings. However, people acting like it’s some HUGE DISRUPTION to how they play ladder is a joke imo. If you’re scrimming, yeah, you got reason to complain, stuff be different.

It is a huge visual difference, fam. Forgive me if I have some vague faith that people will notice a large disceprency. We are not talking about a “spot the difference” image. I might be projecting my own ability to notice large difference and you might be projecting your inability to. But what the hell do statistics have to do with this? Rofl. This place, man…
Dva’s peeling ability is what gets hurt the most by this change because the range difference means dva has to use booster to make up for it and losing 5 meters means 0.41 seconds of time that she has to make up for to get into range. Plenty time for random flanker to finish killing your team’s zenyatta. It’s frankly inexcusable that they nerfed her best teamwork ability, the one she was and should be played for, this harshly. Every single other peel in this game has up to 15 to 30 meter range, bar lucio’s boop at 8 meters and tons upon tons of threathening abilities easily operate within 20 meters or longer range, such as roadhog hook.
The visual change will also make certain even legally blind people can now spot defence matrix from mile away and make certain Dva won’t eat a single ultimate of theirs again, no matter how much she tries to hide or mindgame them.
I’m also tired of this… skin bandaids… giving us pretty skin and immediately slamming us with nerfbats.
You cannot buy us over with pretty skins blizzard. You just can’t do this to us AGAIN.

You haven’t given me a single scenario within ladder play where this 5m diff would make a diff to how your game plays out, outside of the situations I already covered… I mean… Is what it is.

Fair. Second most mobile tank. With a completely unique ability that gives you a level of value that the most mobile tank (Hammond) can’t dream of.

To many, that’s fair. They’re trying to reduce that unique peeling ability so that other options are opened up. Makes sense.
Huh? It makes sense. A lot of her meta dominance is because of her teamwoork ability. Why not address it?

I will say this:
Though the nerf isn’t going to affect my play too much, nor is it going to make D.Va bad, it’s always disheartening in general to see tanks get nerfed because devs are scared of GOATS/tritank scenarios, especially with what feels like a pretty heady damage creep. 2k HP rein barrier in 2019 isn’t the same as 2k HP rein barrier in 2016, for better or worse.
What other options? There aren’t any that aren’t already in use.
Yea lets make this character garbage at teamwork in a teamwork game, that won’t make her a bad character at all right? And let’s make it entirely because 0.000016% of playerbase and hurt the rest and their smaller capacity of teamwork.
It’s like making Mercy’s guardian angel more clunky to move with or making her beam needing to aim. People play dva because they want to work as a team and peel for their teammates so they don’t die.

It’s inexcusable because she’s not dominant anywhere and already not very meta. Ladder dva is a dying breed and these quarterly nerfs to kill this one character off is unfair and unjustified.
Even worse is that they’re doing the same thing again and trying to buy our acceptance with pretty skins as a way of apology.

Like Hammond has entire better kit and doesn’t have critbox at all, or okay, the smallest one? This “dream” ability is joke if you’re camparing them. If DM is so broken ability, let’s just casual the game and get rid of it, because people just can’t find an open window in fps game. The rest of her kit is outdated and not effective anymore.
It reminds me of Mercy, where rez is holding the true potentional of the character.
Obviously, as t hey haven’t introduced any new options. The ones like that offered via Roadhog for instance are trying to be emphasized, and look at his current ladder rep. It’s working.
This character has always excelled at team work. If the hero suffers for a while, that’s fine. Others have suffered for far longer. No sympathy.
Zenyatta is the only one that has been as dominant. And that is a problem. I’m willing to dive into that as well. The rest, not even remotely comparable. Especially Reinhardt lmao. Do you know what meta is? Rein has only recently been in the limelight of the meta.
She’s been INCREDIBLY dominant for like 2+ years in the meta? I can pull up the exact time but that’s META, not ladder noise. Even ladder she’s benefitted from a STRONG AF representation for a LONGGGGG time.
It’s all good. Dva can afford to be weakened for a while. It’s healthy for the game.
I’m glad bunker tank comps have now risen to the limelight, and giving our Dive and Deathball metas before, this is good. This shows me that we are getting close to a balance.

The problem is removing DM and replacing it homogenizes the game and allows Zarya and Ana to reign with impunity. Their projectiles are far too unchecked otherwise, which is why I don’t get why they’re buffing them
And how exactly is her "meta dominance " as you call it and other charcters not being a meta not a byproduct of what ever the best idea at the time? Meta doesn’t = strength and not meta doesnt = weak. All it means is the best ideas of the time wants a particular set of criteria. Goats wants heroes who can stay alive the longest (aka non-dps) double snipers wanted heroes who can remove 200 hp in mere moments, Dive had a similar goal but not quiet as fast as double snipers could (hence why it gave way to double snipers). Why do you think there are so many widow complaints lately? Its not that widow is a bad hero that she wasn’t played its she didn’t fit the goal of staying alive and not dying. And historically d.va has always been the least good in the meta comps. Its not like there are a lot of off tanks either and Hog has no focus on defense (which main tanks need help with) and only synergy with Orissa other than that he has standard dps barrier synergies. But it is so much easier to act like she is the issue isn’t it?
I want the misguided crusade that Ana’s heals are stopped by D.va and only d.va to end and die. Dm isn’t even the best answer to Ana heals (that would be deflect given the dual nature of Ana’s shots/gernade) or can’t even stop them as long as insert other tank here can. But no somehow barriers get a free pass as not messing with Ana heals. Heck Orissa is even gettting better at it in this ptr patch.
Her dominance is unique, similar to Zen’s, in that it has held continuity through various metas. Lucio was also one until the Mercy rework which put him out of the game. There have been 2 heroes that have, for years now, been meta, and that is Dva and Zen.
Meta is very much the greatest possible strength. GOATs deals with a synergy between all heroes to a degree that really hasn’t been experienced before in this game. Thus the difference between say SFS and VT vs the rest of the league.
Dva has always been an EXTREMELY powerful meta component. Even when she’s not run, the threat of her means a lot. Similar to Brig. Wild swaps lead to losing out in the ult economy and etc etc.
