doesn’t matter the skill range or not of solo players vs premade teams. Premade teams always have the advantage with cohesion and being familiar with one another.

Tons of groups are just friends playing together. Not actual teams communicating everything, picking around each other etc. especially in unranked modes. And of course the skill range matters. A team of solo master players will slaughter a 5 stack of plats. Not that I am saying it would actually be far apart, but the game does either match against other teams with groups, or stacks mmr against the grouped team, which certainly makes a difference.

Not necessarily, afaik the matchmaking group MMR compensation only happens in higher ranks.

Because if they didn’t allow for this then you or other people would complain about queue times. If the matchmaker only matches the exact same circumstances against each other, players would have to wait quite a while for games, even though there’d be lots of other players queueing. That would be really bad. So what you want to do is to match teams with differing circumstances against each other in ways that can still balance out to 50/50 matches.
The best solution is to be willing to match groups against solo players (albeit with a preference not to do so, if possible), but make it so that the groups have lower MMRs than the solo players they’re against. If the group’s MMR is enough lower, the chance of the group winning the game will be 50%. That’s what Blizzard is doing. And what’s the problem at that point? It’s basically definitionally fair in that case. And to not allow those games basically is to force everyone into higher queue times just to avoid 50/50 games that you don’t like on principle.

Why am I a solo tank up against
- tank + support duo
- tank + 2 support trio
- 3-stacks
- 4-stacks
- 5-stacks
And on my team sometimes I get a 4-stack that are just doing their thing, pocketing their own and leaving me with zero heals.
At least try to make duos, trios, etc. matched by role. There is a huge difference between a solo tank and a pocket-duo tank on the other team. If 1 team has a pocketed tank duo then do the same for the other team and solo tank vs. solo tank.
What’s the point of matching MMR to someone in the enemy team in your role if they are pocketed duo and you are not?

It’s nice to spread the blame around for losses a little bit. Solo games hurt my feelings when I lose.
Huh? If I am duo I would expect to be matched against another duo in the same roles.

This isn’t true unfortunately. You could put 5 solo diamond players without mics against 5 gold friends with mics, and the diamond team would wipe the floor with them.
Because that group needs to be given some wins, and you are unfortunate punching bag for it.

it is very very hard to predict the mmr of a group. it makes fair matchmaking almost impossible.
look at the most lopsided stomp games you’ve played and there is a 80% chance that it was with or against a group. there are zero games in my history which felt even and had groups in them.
Don’t play team games alone. Grab a friend or two and make them pay
100% agree. overwatch is a team game so we should separate out those disgusting solo queue players into their own segregated queue. those sick perverts don’t deserve to play this game with grouped players.
