- 1-shots
- too much burst damage in general
- unnecessary buffs (just look at latest patch)
- always playing hitscan heroes
- OP heroes take forever to nerf or are never nerfed (hello tracer)
- only DPS complaints seem to be listened too - 100 tank players complain about hanzo and ana and 1 DPS player says they want midair roll and guess what?
- spam, low skill high value like junk and pharah
- stupid heroes like doom, sombra and bastion that just exist to ruin games
and so on. Tanks only have 7 heroes to choose from but DPS choose from an even smaller number most of the time.

Sure you may disagree with the direction they are going in

At least when I’m toxic to others online I know it’s a me issue.

How exactly can the tank and supports be more fun for tank and support mains?
Because true tank and support mains either play tank to soak damage, and make space for their team.
True support mains play support to heal and provide utility to their team.
Without focusing on damage.
If this isnt fun to you then you are not really a tank or support main.
What we have is players that call themselves tank and support mains yet they just want to be better dps.
Meaning they want a tank with all the tank benefits of having high health, armor, barriers, the best ultimates, AND also do as much damage as a DPS.
To be able to easily 1v1 these “annoying” dps players.
Same with so called support players. They want to have all the benefits of a support hero, Being able to heal, have utility, have the best ultimates as well, AND be able to do DPS type damage.

Like I said they want to basically play DPS heroes with all the benefits of a tank or support as well.
But here is the good news, that is what the devs are trying to do with OW2.
Make all roles be more independent and be more FPS oriented.
Doesnt mean all roles should be equal in damage as the dps heroes, but they should have additional benefits like having higher health, better ultimates and being able to heal.
So its a win in. And the DPS players will be more inclined to play tanks or supports as they will be closer to what its like to play a dps hero. Not exactly the same but closer than what it is in OW1 right now.
Just like players dont have much issues with being a healer or heavy class in other games like Battlefield, Rainbow6, Valorant, Apex.
I mean again, they dont have to be exactly like those games but closer to be more FPS’ish than they currently are.

Ah… this doesn’t necessarily prove that dps got more popular… more like, the game is leaking tank players since the game is currently fun for nobody…
Unless you’re playing the meta, you’re suffering, and even those who play the meta are frustrated by it since alot of CC and burst is meta rn… and the majority of that burst and CC doesn’t come from the dps…
I think you are missing the point. This game is DESIGNED to be addicting. And what happens when an addict hits a low? I’m not blaming devs for peoples actions, I’m saying this was the logical conclusion of creating this environmental explicitly.

That was the issue really, I had more ability to stop damage and provide utility by playing DPS.
Mei / Sombra are very much support like characters, they tilt the battlefield in their teams favor.
They want to have counters, to be able to switch to have an answer to a problem.
DPS ALWAYS can, they have the hero pool with that. Other roles don’t.
Not going to happen. Many many many games have tired this exact thing, Overwatch was one of them. Never works.

Roughly at a ratio of 15 DPS to 1 support.
Now, OW2 is making the bet that the ratio will be close to 1:1
Looks like 1 hour+ long queue times will be the result right? If you get the SAME ratio in OW, that is what the queue times are going to be.
Average Game Length * 15 + time it takes for the matchmaker to find a suitable match.
if average game length is 8 minutes, that is 2 hour queue time for DPS as a base if you have the ratios of DPS | Support of the other games.

Well keep with the glass is half empty mindset.
Ill stick with the glass is half full approach as to OW2 fixing a lot of issues. And its a step in a better direction.
Will it be perfect. No. Will it be better than what the game is now? Hopefully , yes.
We will have 1-2-2 soon. And i bet if players still try to cheese moba nonsense into OW2, then there will be further tweaks.

What are the most “fun” tanks to play in the tank role right now? What tanks do DPS players gravitate to when playing tank?
Roadhog, Ball, Zarya, Maybe even DVA.
The more brawler type tanks. And that is what Blizzard is doing. Making all tanks like that. Or more like that.
I like playing those heroes when I play tank. It isnt a chore, it isnt boring.
If tanks in OW2 are even more brawly than tanks like Hog , then im sure more players would want to play them. As we see in the current game that Hog is probably the most fun tank for DPS players.
Same for support changes in OW2.
