Why skip to moth meta?

We had amazing metas in between launch and moth meta. Some notable ones include Beyblade, Triple Tank, and Dive. I believe at least one of these three deserved a classic event, but it seems like they’re just going to skip over most of 2016 and 2017 Overwatch to late 2017 Moth Meta…

That’s somewhat disappointing, but at least Classic will be back. But at the end of the day, I’m really happy that it’s something rather than nothing.

Overwatch 1 Metas:

Season 1 - No Hero Limit/Coinflip (06/28/2016 - 08/18/2016)
Season 2 - Beyblade (09/01/2016 - 11/24/2016)
Season 3 - Triple Tank (12/01/2016 - 02/22/2017)
Season 4 - Early Dive/Triple DPS (03/01/2017 - 05/29/2017)
Season 5 - Dive (05/31/2017 - 08/28/2017)

My memory is not what it used to be; however, I thought Moth Meta was a variation of dive. I am pretty sure even if I am wrong that it will be perfectly viable on that patch.

Yes and no.

Dive was kinda busted back then, but tbh as long as you had a Mercy you could play literally anything lmao.

Moth Meta includes Dive, but it isn’t the proper or rather “pure” dive that existed between May and August 2017. Which consisted of Winston, D.va, Tracer, Genji, Zen, and Lucio.

Another earlier variation of dive was the triple dps dive, and that was an absolute blast to watch. You can find Korean teams played it in Apex Season 3 vods (March to May 2017).
