I just played my first competitive game of the season and the enemy team had a Sym main who stayed Sym the entire match. My team won it but now I’m not sure if I want to continue queueing for comp or not because I simply don’t want to be in the same game as that person, even if he/she is on the other team.
That person stayed Sym when we were running tripple DPS, one of which was a pharmercy, Tracer, McCree, Orisa and Moira. There are two members of my team that Sym can’t even touch and I’m making sure that she’s not getting in close with my halt + McCree just flashbang her. Even our Tracer was fragging the Sym. We full held the first checkpoint.
The game was just not fun.

There are bad players, bad picks and griefers/trolls in the game. It will happen in comp, it will happen in quickplay, it will happen in arcade, it will happen in competitive ctf, it will happen in Lucioball. Sometimes these people will be on your team, sometimes they will be on the enemy team.
That’s not a good enough reason that any mode “feels” bad.
When there are people who make a competitive game mode not competitive it does make the game mode feel bad.

I’m not even playing Competitive anymore as much because of random matches like that. There is 0 competition. I just wait until the end of the season to do my placements so I don’t decay until role queue comes.
I think the OP means that it feels bad when not everyone is playing to win. It is a Competitive mode, so everyone should be trying their hardest to win, so references to the other modes do not apply.
I neither like steamrolling nor getting steamrolled, which feels bad to someone who wants to play close, competitive games with players of equal skill.
Just because someone is using their favorite hero doesn’t mean they aren’t playing to win

I have played torb in past Comp and got ridiculed for it. But more than not my ULT saved the point when the DPS and tank decides to push too far and die. Play to win and have fun doing it. Torb is not my main but he’s fun to me on the right maps.
Truly competitive people do not enjoy losing, so they tend to look at their own play and make adjustments when things are not working.
Taking the OP’s perspective of the game as the entirety of our knowledge of this player, if that player was truly competitive, were they actually having fun getting repeatedly dominated? Is that fun for the players on their team when one of their own is not contributing? Multiple people in this thread and others have asserted that it is not fun for either side when this happens, so how about the experience of those other 11 players?
I want people to have fun and play what they want without being ridiculed by their own team, but not at the expense of 11 others. QP, Arcade and custom modes exist for people that just want to have fun, so why not do that there?

There’s nothing you can do about that as you can’t control other people. The only thing you can do is play with a six stack as the matchmaker will put another large group against you or make you play against superior players.
Having some one tricks, an uncooperative person or a person having an off day doesn’t mean competitive feels bad. It means you got a bad game, which literally happens to everyone. If most of your games are like this then yes it’s a problem. If it’s one attack Sym every once in a while it can be frustrating but nothing that means the entire mode is bad.
I agree, I also love to play Symmetra on defense. The second the other team can counter me and it’s not working which is usually 4 out of 10 times I switch immediately into another role the team is lacking.

yeah I’m sure she was totally playing to win. As symmetra. Against pharmercy.
not sure if serious or trolling.
It could be as simple as they started out as Symm and are only good at a few other heroes. Those other heroes were already taken so they stayed Symm instead of being another hero where they would just be plain terrible. Ahhhh when you assume you know what happens. Most likely not throwing though.
One tricking needs to be bannable in competitive.
If you are playing a hero that does not work with your team, that is getting countered by the enemy, and refuse to switch, then you are not being competitive. You are being casual and belong in QP.
Building a comp that the team likes is part of the game. You can have a limited hero pool, sure, but refusing to work with teammates to change things up some is such poor form. You have to be a real narcissist to make 5 other people play AROUND you, since they can’t play WITH you because you won’t play WITH them.
Let us report one-tricks for poor teamwork and griefing.
Queuing up competitive mode, knowing you won’t play with your team is griefing and poor teamwork and you certainly don’t belong in competitive if you’re doing this.

So you just played your first game when your stats show 22 hours of competitive?
OP, how many “I really hate onetricks, they make this game not fun at all” have you posted in the last few months? 34? 41?
It hasn’t updated for the new season. I’m just finished my 4th game.
