Why queue with a gold while in diamond?

Quick play isn’t unranked as it is only attack or defend. Not both sides. Only where this happens is KOTH game mode, so if you could choose KOTH it would be unranked.

Aren’t OWL player disallowed to do this though? They can only stack 3 players from same team or so. It think grouping up should happen even in top 500. In the end this is a team game, not a solo adventure. Playing as a group is an ideal way to play OW

Overwatch isn’t a solo game and it never should be treated that way. Teaming up should be the norm. Solo queue people already have it easy, as you get matched to very fair matches compared to those who stack.

Smurfing isn’t combated by killing playing with friends. It should be fight with giving those who stack more freedom, so they wouldn’t play with low sr alts to overcome the restrictions. Full 6-stack to bypass sr restrictions would be great

They claimed to T500 by using a flaw in the system due to lack of other players in groups.

Would they beat the best in the world? highly doubt that. Didn’t matter though as they were dominating on the servers in their region at the time. They didn’t go up against 6 stacks from around the world.

Solo Q does not give fair and balanced matches. I get put on teams with a 4 stack who are complete garbage and want to flame everyone else because they don’t know how to not feed.

NOW they’re disallowed to group as more than a duo, and for exactly that reason. Either everyone needs to stack or no one needs to stack.

yeah I’ve had many games ruined by someone on my team trying to boost their gold friend and it just wouldn’t work because it put the gold against diamonds.

at the same time, i had games where me and my team absolutely stomped the same kind of duo and it just didn’t feel good. people need to realize they’re ruining games with this kind of boosting and you should NEVER be allowed to queue if you’re separated by two ranks.
( i’ve even had someone in plat queue with a silver and it was god awful )

Alright, we keep on forgetting that the lower ranked part of a duo still needs to play properly to avoid dragging the team down. Yeah, you can say that it’s often gold Mercy with diamond Pharah, but if the enemy team focuses said Mercy a lot, the differences in ranks - although not that great - will show. I always considered this as a situation where these two rank differences cancel each other out.

Also, I’m pretty sure that in these scenarios the higher ranked player actually gets less SR for wins, because the average MMR/SR/whateverR is way below them.

You talk a lot about different ranks and boosting. Have you consired that 1000 SR is still quite fairly the same rank in bronze to diamond. Even if you get scared of those icons, its still just players who might be like 2450 gold and 2950 diamond (5 matches to lose the icon). Or like 2400 - 3100 is still very similar rank range, even though icons look scary.

Playing as a duo is not boosting, most of the time those two players behind the screen are just two friends wanting to play with each other. Not some malicious people with evil laugh who want to abuse the matchmaking system and take the match as hostage

GM should allow 6-stacks again, the duo rule is stupid and causing some GM’s to smurf or lose interest to OW. Grouping up is the best way to enjoy and play ow, it’s not a solo game in anyway.

5 vs 5 makes the solo aspect sort of better though (OW2 2028). 6vs6 needs more players who know how to play as a team, but 5vs5 everybody has more carry potential

Some people here saying grouping is the way to play overwatch, except grouping with people 1000 SR below you is clearly not.

My personal opinion is it should cap at 500 SR difference.

And at duoqueue, there is no competitive legitimacy to six stacking, this is not OWL and every six stack has its guaranteed weight being carried instead of getting the right SR they deserve.

And Blizzard very conveniently is closing their eyes for it.

Give us at least a solo only q so don’t have to deal with that cheese.

Anime agrees

you cannot deny that there’s a big difference between gold and diamond players. there’s different ways of approaching choke points, awareness and gamesense are vastly different plus aiming is also a big part of it. i’ve played in all of these ranks, and i can tell the difference.

then they can go play quick play instead of possibly ruining the game for the entire lobby. you are cheating the system if you play with someone in a lobby they don’t belong and are boosting someone into a rank they don’t belong as well. no one is saying there’s malicious intent behind it but it is a fact that it is rigging the matchmaking in a way.

But it’s still reasonably the same rank, one can drop 300-500 SR in one sitting. I think 1000 SR is very fair in Bronze-Diamond. That SR can go up and down very much, but the players stays the relative the same skill level. For me personally there is no difference between high gold/low plat and low diamond players, they make the same mistakes and don’t really cooperate with the team.

Think about some random one trick, when it’s that heroes meta the player can go and reach low diamond (3050). But when it’s not that heroes meta they might drop back to (2450), it happens. Those rank icons might look intimidating, but they don’t really matter much. If someone is 200 SR higher than somebody, it means that guy might be on a win streak

Somebody might be 2900 with a diamond icon or somebody might be 3499 with a diamond icon.

Who wants to play quick play though? It’s not a real game mode, people come and go. Don’t take anything seriously, don’t usually want to win. Worst it’s that it’s only half a game, no attack and defend and overtime attack and defends. Quick play isn’t for everybody. Competitive people don’t want to play casual, as casual people don’t want to play competitive (though only for golden guns as it’s a flawed system)
