Why not lower dps of Tanks and increase ther Tankability drasticly?

Just because you personally didn’t see it, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Or often. In plat and diamond (I climbed) it was business as usual for me. There was some times people wanted Goats, so we all switched. Even with communication I still lost a lot of goats games vs people who didn’t do the same thing. People think of goats as a brain dead comp, but it really wasn’t, it needed to be as coordinated as dive, it’s just less mechanically flashy.

So yeah, people could make it work, but only the top could make it work consistently, just like dive.

Orisa and Sigma say hello.

I’m all for decreasing the damage of tanks.
Less damage overall → maybe less barriers to block the damage?

Nerfing the barriers over and over again did nothing to solve the problem with double barrier because it makes the barriers even more important. And if they keep nerfing the barriers Sigma will be trash one day just like Orisa.

They could give it a try at least.

Orisa Sigma say problem. We still nerfing the bugger for forks sake…

Lower his range and half his problems go away.

Problem is that the typical tank is a PvE invention that doesn’t really work in PvP.

If tanks can take a lot of damage, but do negligible damage themselves, the enemy will just ignore them and go for the other roles instead, essentially making their role pointless. After all, it’s not like you can really force the enemy to attack the tanks like you can with an AI enemy in PvE.

You could circumvent this issue by turning them into cc machines… but that risks making the game more frustrating for everyone.

You do know Goats had the most broken hero of a time right? If you couldn’t make it work, it’s only because you were massively outclassed.

My personal experience consisted of 10 win streak in 1 night of playing Sombra Goats, artificially boosted plat friends all the way to diamond at that time. And other time we beat back smurfs and other team with superior DPS players.

So yeah, not only the top could make it work, I could make it work with a bickering and toxic random teammates just fine as well.

I dropped comp that season feeling disgusting for my unearned climb.

Also even at the absolute top there were teams who demolished GOATS with dps heavy comps. Across Contenders there were teams who beat GOATs to the point teams didn’t run it against them. You also saw it a lot in OWL.

You also had 1 trick dps in GM who continued to 1 trick and stayed in GM.

It’s also important to remember that every comp that has ever existed has existed to counter or allow double sniper/dps heavy comps.
Dive - Counter Double Sniper (was also double sniper)
Brawl - Counter Double Sniper
Double Shield - Counter Double Sniper
Sig/Ball - Counters Double Sniper
Bunker - Counter/Allow Double Sniper
Hackfist - Counter Double Sniper
GOATS - Literally created because a contenders trial team didn’t have a good enough hitscan to play double sniper.

Whenever there isn’t a ‘Meta’ the Meta is Double Sniper. Hitscan/snipers have been so dominant at every level since the games release.

No he wouldn’t. All his damage could be mitigated by any healer. And if you nerf healers 1000hp won’t last seconds against the DPS in the game. Tracer alone does about 300 a clip and not many of those will miss Reins massive hit box.

you are right however in this universe, healers would also heal more while dealing less damage (boring I know) so things would warp hard but at least damage would be something more exclusive of DPS

I mean, didnt devs said they want all tanks to be like hog?
Then it means they prefere them to get higher dmg lower tankability.
Not saying its good or bad, it seems to be their plan for future of this game tho.

SOMEONE WHO FINALLY GETS IT. I’ve been saying this for literally years but people are so afraid of changes. This is exactly what tanking is

And less and less people will play tanks or supports because DPS will just bully them with zero repercussions. Sounds like a great step toward Overwatch: Call of Duty Edition

You’re saying a dumb thing for literally years, that’s why people doesn’t care and not because they fear changes. I don’t need to explain why since a lot of people explained already.

Dealing direct damage is not the only possibility to pose thread. Taking th damage in frontline and controlling enemys so your dps can take out is also thread.

So, roles for once would be more specialised, rather than DPS, fat DPS and DPS with healing/buffs.

You don’t get bullied, if DPS simply unable to hurt you enough, or you have your team as shield.

It wasn’t top 1%; it was more like 6%, seeing as Master had the exact issue that the instant things went badly, a team would go GOATS and suddenly just stomp.

If a tank can’t do damage, why would a DPS avoid going into their area?

Tanks need lethality to punish people for invading their space.

Just to give 2 simple examples of why Tanks need damage:
A:
Reinhardt is pushing into the enemy team.
Right now you have 2 choices:

1: Trying to hold your ground and somehow kill him before he can hammer you down.

2: Back off to avoid his hammer range.

If Reinhardt can’t kill you he will be degraded to the rectangle man that stands in place until his shield breaks and then hides like a coward.

B:
Any Dive Tank in the game. Take away the damage and all that’s left is being useless at best and feeding tons of ult charge at worst.

Also it will make all the Tanks less attractive to players and that is literally the worst thing that the devs could do to the game right now.

Um, no. I was on multiple teams that went Goats in QP. Each time, we hilariously steamrolled the other team, it wasn’t even close.

It was an easy to run low skill team composition. It took less teamwork than a regular team does.

Dude, it’s QP, ANY coordination gives you a big advantage.

But was it ever even a problem in QP tho? Where there are even LESS tanks than comp?

It wasn’t a problem because people in QP are impossible to herd into any planned team composition. They play what they want to play.

My point is, it wasn’t hard to do at all. It only didn’t rule the metal ranks because those guys won’t force themselves to play stuff they hate just to win.

When you have to force yourself to pick something you hate to win, game has design flaws.
