Why not lower dps of Tanks and increase ther Tankability drasticly?

This.

If Tanks wouldn’t deal enough damage to be considered a threat you could simply ignore or overrun them.

Definitely not healthy for game balance and the size of the Tank player base.

Tanks have to be a threat to do their job. If they were low dps high durability, they would just be ignored. Think of the last game you had with bad tanks. They were bad because they were no threat and were ignored and your team got pushed in.

I have never seen a Goats failed miserably on ladder against other Comp, even in gold. You don’t need a lot of coordination when the heroes already have natural synergies. The hardesr part was only to beg the team to drop their ego and pick up cheese for victory.

No win, only widow !

Widow forever!

Who needs a win when you can have fun clicking big heads right?

Objective? What’s that? Never heard of it.

So is what they are trying to do now which is make them more damage focused.

A Roadhog that is even harder to kill and grabbing front liner out for his dps is not creating space?

have you ever played overwatch? just asking because ultimates are a thing in overwatch, some of these ultimates are very powerful, currently roadhog feeds a lot of ult charge and if he had more hp then he would feed more ult charge

just to explain ult charge to you for a few seconds whenever you shoot the enemy you gain ult charge so you get your ult(ultimate) faster, if you do need help understanding what an ultimate is i am more than happy to explain it to you but its a bad thing to give your enemy ult charge

Tanks dont need to be the thread, ther dps are the thread, tanks can focus on protecting the grp with defense not offense

Decreasing the threat of tanks doesn’t make DPS the biggest threat. The second biggest threat after tanks is supports.

The reason tanks “protecting the grp” doesn’t work is because the group rarely sticks together. Players wander away, for good or bad reasons.

And in case you weren’t around then, the last time a tank focused on defense, Orisa was nerfed because bunker was considered unfun.

Not sure what other games you play, but in MMO games like World of Warcraft literally does that.

Problem is, they face AI who can be taunted to attack them with abilities.

In a game like this, being a damage sponge just doesn’t work because people aren’t dumb enough (most of the time) to just shoot a big target that is not a threat itself.

No duh, that is what tanking and healing is literally designed for. To stop dps from getting easy kills.

Paladins gives tanks CC abilites to create space pressure. You don;t get close to tanks not becasue of damage, but becasue you will become vulnerable to the actual damage heroes.

Yes. In MOBAs and RPGs.

But this game is primarily a Class Based Shooter. So no.

Interesting – I’ve never personally played Paladins so I can’t comment on the tank differences there.

That just means they become damage sponges that pose zero threat. Without the ability to do damage you can’t force enemies to back away.

They are supposed to be able to take more damage, yes. But you need to realize that no player ever enjoys just being a bullet sponge. If you take away tanks’ powers in favor of increasing their health, you will find a lot less tank mains than what little we already have.

You need to find a balance between durability and lethality such that the character remains interesting to play, but not broken.

The problem is that taking damage feels ult charge, and the only way of not feeding ult charge while taking damage is with shields.

This is why tanks without shields does scary amount of damage to deter people from trying to damage them from a radius.

It’s hard to create space without damage. For instance if someone could just press W and not fear Rein’s hammer, then Rein isn’t doing anything.

It why you see tanks often have very consistent, short range damage.
