"Why no original abilities"

Because it’s hard to introduce more and more “Original abilities” without breaking the game, Illaris pylon technically a completely Original mechanic even tho we probably all saw ut coming eventually… still most players consider it one of the most annoying and worst things ever added to the game.

Regardless of if you think it is or isn’t “completely Original abilities” can causes… problems.

Technically we did see for a short PTR test sym where her turrets healed instead of damaged. So even that isnt fully orginal.

It gets harder and harder to create orginal abilites as the cast gets bigger. A better question to ask is not if a ability is orginal, but if the ability plays different from the other abilites.

Take Immo abilites, there are several now but each one plays and does something different. So they are all different/unique abilities, despite all being immo abilites.

I agree it seems tough to me to come up with new abilities that aren’t just a new form of immortality, cleanse, slow, hard cc, boop, etc. But I don’t get paid to design that stuff so

This playerbase only understand hitscan fire and everything else is considered ‘‘toxic cheese’’ and every unique hero needs to be dumpstered.

Why should the devs make anything new or unique when anything that isnt Soldier 76 sets them off?

Reddit and streamer chats are not ‘‘most of the playerbase’’.

Yep, its impossible to shovel more and more heroes into the game without consequences

Each an every ability can be broken down to basics:
Hitscan
Beam
Projectile
Aura/AoE
Traversal
Some are a combination of these. You can only do so much with such a decently sized Character Roster before certain abilities begin to overlap (how many “Leap” abilities do we have now? 3 or more?)
