Why name change is so expensive?

it almost cost less to buy another copy of the game. this doesnt make any sense.

It regulates how many times a player can change their name and prevent abuse with interacting with other players.

A) It makes them tons of money

B) Do you really think someone that owns multiple games will buy them again?
Of course not, if you only have Overwatch in your library then of course it’s going to be almost cheaper.

Also:

To dissuade people from doing it. It’s easier to fake your identity through Battle.net than Steam because there aren’t really profiles in the same sense.

That’s kinda why console players are generally more toxic/less careful about what they say/type

since they can make infinite free accounts…

10$ is too much for a Battletag change though.

well thanks for replies, i found out that blizzard was giving free name change when mcree name was changed…can i still use that? if so how??

I doubt the mcree thing is still going on, especially if your name had nothing to do with Mcree. That said every account far as I know gets one free name change. If you’ve never used it, it should still be available.

I believe you do it through the normal ticket/support system.
