Regardless how fun and nostalgic OW is portrayed, it is ruthlessly designed for maximum profit by player retention and micros, with any soul of actual gaming for gaming sake being a distant second thought ((all these crossovers and FOMO cosmetics/voicelines, yet only a fraction of dedicated character story animations, copious recoloured skins for absurd prices and bundled into packs as part of the “discount,” penalties for leaving QP early regardless any harm to mental health, for instance)). It is just the space that some large corporations operate by.
With that as the premise, why must Push - cited over the years as easily one of most frustrating singular reasons people sometimes avoid playing that day/night or leave matches early - continue to exist in rotation?
Is there something simply missing, perhaps the premise containing flaws? Please engage substantively, this has been a growing inconsistency for a while now with only scattered suggestions.

Map voting coming soon right? Only saving grace imo
It wild to me that this game is 10 years old and we still dont have map voting.

Yeah, I feel that it’s a New Queen Street issue more than a general Push issue at this point. The other maps might have some egregious sightlines too, but that’s certainly not a mode-specific deal. Escort is beloved but Havana sure ain’t.

Havana, Circuit Royale, Junkertown…there’s a pattern here but I won’t spoil the ending.

Meh
A) it’s basically escort
B) it’s not like the other game modes don’t have their own problems
It’s unfortunate we are getting them. It’s almost as if people don’t look at history. If the bans haven’t been any indication, if the many other games that have gone this route aren’t any indication:
People hive mind these systems and in the end they just mean lack of variety and repetition
Per disposition, I hate bans in general and wish there were at the very least limited to some sort of supported Tourney mode. Though the nuance is so rich here, since a pained silver lining might be that Comp feels playable with Sombra essentially being permabanned, even if that means I cannot as often play Mercy. That stated, I still prefer no characters bans forced upon everyone in a primary lobby.
Per difference between Escort and Push, short of a complete asymmetrical matchmaker stomp in either direction, the latter often results in drawn out stressful attrition with Push-kun rushing back and forth, and so much running before combat again, whereas with the former the cart is much slower though seems far less stressful due to the relative consistency in progress throughout match, and again less running to combat.
Flashpoint seems to strike a balance of chaos and consistency, and is fun personally, though with any mode it will naturally depend upon the person.
With map voting, I do worry about the same thing mentioned for character bans, whereas being placed into a map per unseen roulette makes playing the game a more pleasant experience. Other maps and modes have pros and cons and per person, certainly, though Push stands out as singularly draining and disproportionately irritating.
Push is perfectly allright, even colosseo isnt terrible these days.

I don’t mind push now. The only time i hate push is when i see New Queen Street. Stadium push is just much better and shorter.
i think more leaves issues was really because of player selected map banning is not a thing.
not the so-called rage quitting that they claim. just spiteful game devs that dislike the fact that we think flash, clash and push are garbage.
if i turn the game on 5pm cst. i get tons of push maps. had 3 in a row. with the third being backfill. at that point a person just has to pick a builder and hold w.
and yes. those modes are garbage because once a person has fell behind there is no going back.
To each their own, I’ve not played overwatch this consistently in like 2yrs. It was bans that did it- and for the most part have found it enjoyable.
I would like to have some more map variety for Push. I feel like we haven’t had new maps in ages overall, really

Honestly I think what ruins the mode for so many people is 2 things.
- So much time is wasted escorting the bot back to the wall, especially in games where both teams push pretty far
- Games far more often than not run the clock all the way down into Overtime
This could be solved by doing something incredibly simple which is opening a path in the center of the map that most maps already have, like the jump pad room in Runasapi, to the bot.
Some maps require more extensive remodels but it should honestly be insanely simple to do, and the condition to allow the bot to take that path is by getting the checkpoint.
The only problem with this is how it might make snowballs happen more easily, but frankly that might not even be a problem considering how often games can completely stall out, where despite not really having a chance to win, capping the point is near impossible outside of utter brutal stomps.
Yeah. I always like new maps, myself. It’s one area where OW is definitely better than Rivals.
I’m guessing Stadium soaked up map-making resources that would have gone into the game proper? I dunno. I’m told that Stadium has their own team but I can see the Stadium crew getting extra resources to get the mode off the ground. That sort of thing wouldn’t be new; it’s been mentioned before that staff were taken off OW and put to work helping D4 and WoW expacs.
Aaaanyway. IIRC, Prett told me that we should be getting a Monaco map for Flashpoint next season. So that’s something. Maybe Monaco will be to Flash what Runasapi is to Push.

Morocco not Monaco, but yeah. It’s on the roadmap they shared during the Spotlight event

I enjoy Push far more than I enjoy FP/Clash, not sure why everyone is so negative about it <,> Since it’s basically just payload but both team are attacking instead of only one and trying to push farther than the opposing team. It’s a fun mode
Eugh, that sucks honestly, I really don’t care for Flashpoint and leave every time I get it in QP. Maybe I just need to get over it.
