Why is mercy a must pick?
Is she even a must pick?
Is she picked only because of her rez?
Is it because of her healing?
Damage boost?
The current meta was hanzo and zarya.
If the enemy had a zen, they could counter your dragon.
Therefore you would need a damage boost from mercy.
As for healing, she does less healing than an ana or moira focused on healing, and now she is getting nerfed to heal even less?
Is the easily countered single person rez the only reason people play her?
She’s the easiest, yet most impactful and consistent support hero atm.

Mercy just has too much value overall, without any major downsides.
And because Zen is the only GravDragon counter. So if he dies, he needs a Rez.
TBF Mercy was making GravDragon too strong. With damage boost it was literally uncounterable. At least you stand a chance now.
And also TBF Mercy does outheal Moira and Ana on average, and that’s not counting in how she can Rez and Multi-heal with valk.
Mercy’s kit is ridiculously overloaded.
So, say they removed her self healing.
Would that make her balanced compared to the other healers?
She should. If we pretend Rez isn’t a cooldown ability, Mercy doesn’t offer any utility (no, Damage Boost isn’t really utility, as you lose healing while doing so).
If a dedicated healer, no matter how easy to play, is out-healed by off healers, the game’s completely broken.
Note, while Moira and Ana can put out enough healing to be considered main healers, both have the offensive ability, and limitations, one would attribute to off healers.

That’s like saying Ana doesn’t have any utility because she has to stop healing to sleep dart.
That’s like saying Orisa doesn’t have damage because she has to stop firing to put shield down.
Mercy absolutely has a lot of utility.
Many people wont like hearing this. Before the rework Mercy was less of an issue than she is now. I am not saying we should revert her but giving her another rework she deserves and got promised from the devs would be nice.
we’ve been wanting this for so long but we arent getting any reply whether they are working on mercy or not. we have no clue if they are even considering a rework or even a small change to make her better

But they doesn’t have to nerf all those. They won’t be of a big significance if her pickrate drops.
Wouldn’t it be better to see how the balance changes and reworks of other hreos turn out before looking too much into mercy?
They also have plans for heroes that change the meta / counter meta heroes, like brig, so isn’t there a possibility that they are making a hero that makes mercy get less picks?
The value of Sleep dart is so much higher than Damage Boost, though. Or are you one of those people who instantly wake up the slept target?
Orisa has far less downtime on her damage, than Mercy does when changing beams, because the boost doesn’t count for sh*t until someone gets hit.
You mean dive heros like Tracer, Genji, Winston and D.va? I mean it would be good for the game if Mercy would be finally balanced but I dont see that happening with her current state.
My guess is they are afraid to touch her because she is a very controversial topic and they have no good ideas what do to with her balance wise. So they will keep nerfing things here and there about her till she is entirely destroyed.
Add strong mobility, and you have your answer. All of the above.
i understand where you’re coming from and ofc others need to be looked at, but i think mercy should be looked at again because she’s just too broken and in a very weird position right now. they literally made her worse than before

also as long as rez is on a CD, then she’ll remain a must pick so they reaaaally need to get that looked at.
Why did they rework her in the first place, and what type of hero do they want her to be?
Is she currently doing what they want, and only need nerfs, or is she played in a way they don’t like, and therefore needs a rework?
As for rez on a cooldown. Isn’t an ult really just a long cooldown abillity?
I believe its the combo of her Self Healing, And Gaurdian Angel which gives her some of the best mobility and escape options of healers and removing both would make her useless but regen being removed probs would let mercy be punnished much more risky and bad positioning
They reworked her because she wasn’t played to the design THEY personally intended for her. Jeff stated in an interview after the rework that they wanted her to be known for her throughput healing and amazing mobility, so they gave her Valkyrie.
It doesn’t even occur to them that resurrect is a big source of the problem, they probably didn’t put much thought into making it an ability and how strong it would be, evidenced by how it was at the START of the rework.
