Why McCree/Ashe is Guts/Casca all over again

Those of you who know Berserk, those of you who never watched the anime or followed the manga then I suggest you go watch it or read it, can’t walk away from watching the “Reunion” short and not see tons of correlation between the two stories. Of course, there’s no Griffith, or, at least not that we know of yet (though I firmly believe there will be an equivalent released someday). Now, why do I think this:

  1. Ashe and McCree obviously have a conflict, in which Ashe wants to be the most competent fighter, but, then finds McCree who is that ultimate warrior and realizes that she will never reach that level (however, like Casca, Ashe compared to anyone else except Guts/McCree is still elite), but in him, she see’s a future she can never attain. She is both drawn to it, since it is her dream, but reminded it will always be out of reach thus always a point of anger as well. That confliction draws her to McCree, just like Guts/Casca in Berserk, the same dynamic.

During the gun fight, more specifically, right before the gun fight, the entire Deadlock gang is visibly worried and scared. Even Bob sweats oil. Although they had a huge advantage in numbers, angles, firepower, basically every advantage you can think of, they were all VERY WORRIED about facing McCree.

When Casca and the Band of the Hawk first attack Guts (trying to steal his gold) again Guts clearly was winning soundly. Although Casca and her raiders had every advantage, Guts defeated them soundly, especially Casca in hand to hand combat, which I’m sure has a very similar backstory to McCree/Ashe, I mean, that glimpse of those two in the photo on her motorcycle clearly shows that backstory. Given that Ashe tried to steal the Omnic (which supposedly belongs to McCree (more to their relationship than we’ve been shown) it was the same as Casca trying to steal Guts gold, with the same ending. Although Guts/Casca ending up being together under the Band of the Hawk (i.e. Deadlock Gang) it was that fight, that first fight, that opened Casca’s eyes of the entire Dynamic she was chasing. Eventually Guts/Casca ended up together…well, sorta, you have to watch the Anime to understand a very complex dynamic, but the foundation of Guts/Casca is very inline with McCree/Ashe.

Granted I don’t expect the God Scene from Berserk in Overwatch anytime soon, as that would be wrong on so many levels, but the storyline is most certainly linked in drama sense between these pairs of characters.
