Why Lifeweaver is struggling

okay I figured out why the new platform changes aren’t all that.

Well 1 because they don’t help Lifeweaver engage and get kills like dash does.

But most importantly WHY ARE SO MANY OF THESE MAPS AND SECTIONS OF THESE MAPS INSIDE BUILDINGS!

Clash is can be very steam role adjacent so playing Weaver middle point is almost a throw, you gotta be in like such specific spots to get the advantage of high ground and even then its not like the high ground is to low for any basic cool down to reach it.

The platform changes are great but I reaally wish I had my dash back.

Unfortunately, Lifeweaver is forever doomed to be a suboptimal pick on most maps purely because of how much of his value is tied into taking high ground with platform. Outside of that, the only way to have him become meta is by having his heal numbers be obscene, and we all know how well that went last time.

If they buff him again I hope they increase his passive healing charge and lean more into the weaving side of his kit. I’m afraid, much like Merc, he’s only ever going to be a niche pick unless they introduce something truly crazy into his kit.

Literally the most overpowered hero since his release and you want to buff him?

There’s got to be something they can do with thorns, right?

I was a tourist LW at the start of this season and I was surprised how hard it felt to get good results from his thorns. I know that, in theory, he has a scary amount of potential - 132 bodyshot DPS with headshot capability to boot - but actually tapping into that seemed like another matter.

I played OW1 Orisa and Ram so a fast rate-of-fire projectile weapon isn’t unfamiliar, and on other supports I have no problem hitting ~3-4k damage per ten minutes on average. But on LW it seems so much more difficult compared to, say, Kiriko.

Would reducing the spread of thorns help LW? Or even removing it, with spread going out the window in return for damage per thorn being lowered a tad so that he’s not suddenly vaporising everybody.

Lifeweaver is probably always going to be niche because his kit isn’t proactive, it’s reactive.

The historically strong supports have been those that can make plays or bring a reactive tool powerful enough to the table that can outweigh a lack of proactive options, Mercy being a good example of that with her Res.

Lifeweavers kit revolves around telling the enemy “no, you can’t put my co-healer in a Mauga cage, you can’t juggle my teammate into a corner with Winston, you can’t get a kill with a Rein pin” while having solid healing and being pretty slippery/durable himself.

But the problem for him is that even supports with little proactivity tend to do what he does, only better. Mercy can straight up Res whereas Lifeweaver can only (maybe) prevent some deaths, he can’t prevent the Widow doming someone, if you want someone to be slippery and hard for dive tanks/flankers to kill, you’ve got Moira, if you need a crapton of healing you’ve got several other supports who provide similar numbers while having generally more applicable strengths.

Thornweaver is already insane. It is just that you force the other support to heal bot and if they refuse your team is going to wish death upon your family. I would not say no to buffs, obviously, but, it’s kind of risky. The more people that discover this ancient technique the more Lifeweaver is going to be played and I guess people hate him or something.

Good explanation!

In summary his kit is very reactive, and among reactive characters he struggles to compete.

Maybe it’s simply that I don’t have a handle on his spread because I don’t play him enough. Man, I really dislike spread on non-shotgun weapons. The not-at-all-a-rework-unless-maybe? that changed S:76 from having spread to having recoil felt so damn good to me.

I dunno what game you’re playing but it isn’t Overwatch if you think Lifeweaver is the most overpowered hero since release. LMAO.

Just me lookin’ at Mauga who was absolutely way worse on release.

LW is definitely overpowered. Not only can he kill red team, but he can kill blue team, too. Crazy!

Don’t forget that he can kill himself if he moves too far. So OP.

Nobody is safe!!

He can make plenty of plays its just now when you try he just dies to the dps passive.

Oh and dvas meta right now

This is kinda off-topic but what sensitivity do you use for Grip? Do you use the default 100% or lower it to something else?

Life grip sensitivity 70.

Launch Lifeweaver broke the game with how strong he was. Try again

Except he launched with a weak AF kit that everyone was complaining about being mediocre and a vaguely worse than Mercy because he was too situational and niche.

There’s a reason people were struggling to even get to Top 500 with him in the beginning.

Try again.

I got Rank 1 Lifeweaver only

He was busted on launch idk why people are trying to rewrite history here

So you’re claiming you’re better than top 500 players who literally couldnt do anything with him at launch?

Launch Weaver was god awful, easily the worst launch hero in the history of OW1 and 2.

You are delusional. I’m convinced you either live in your own reality or just intentionally troll with every post you make.
