Why learn hard heroes? When easy exists

Why learn lucio when you can play Kiriko who is both easier and stronger.

Why learn widowmaker when you can learn ashe who is both easier and stronger

Why learn Doomfist when you can just play mauga who is easier and stronger.

Game is garbage rework all the easy heroes and make them harder or gut them mercy shouldn’t be getting even close to the same value a lucio or ana player should, its stupid she has the highest pickrate in GM

I find Lucio easy as heck compared to Kiriko personally but I get the gist

Edit, I also one tricked him for years

If you think lucio is harder to play than kiriko … maaaan I really don’t know what to tell you.

For example. If my team gets stuck in a tank based ultimate like a zarya grav or sigma flux I’m not going to be able to save my team as a kiriko. Yeah I get 0.5 seconds of protection from suzu if zarya gravs us but in the end we still die. There is no way that 0.5 seconds of no damage is gonna save us.

And suzu is completely useless if we’re held in midair by sigma.

Lucio on the other hand being able to ult and drop several hundred HP onto every teammate impacted is absolutely going to save my teams lives.

It’s not even just his ult. His incredibly high mobility. The fact he can speed up his team. His AOE healing and powerful LMB and boop means he’s miles easier to play than kiriko.

He is objectively harder to play Kiriko has auto aimed healing has an AOE secondary has an ultimate thats easy to use.
The only difficult part about her is the headshots on rightclick.

If you think Kiriko is harder idk what to tell you (Keep in mind there are more Top500 Kirikos than Lucios.)
And most Top500 players flex to Kiriko not Lucio a lot of support players are terrible at lucio even in Top500 but almost anyone in Top500 can play Kiriko.

Lucio is much higher APM than Kiriko if you don’t see that I feel like your icon must be just for show.

Now to answer your question; you play Lucio instead of Kiriko because “WHEEE! Wallriding time!” and also “Boop!”

You play Widowmaker instead of Ashe because, “Tsch… Americans.”

And you play Doomfist instead of Mauga because you find it more fun to PUUUNCH!!! than to just hold left and right click all day.

It’s just a matter of preference, dude. Not everybody picks “easy” heroes just to troll you. If XxXBLOODSTORM666XxX wants to chill on Mercy, let her. She’s not committing war crimes.

Ult is stronger than an ability? Amazing.
Building sound barrier before enemy team gets their ults is part of the skill required to play Lucio.
Lucio is the highest skill ceiling support.

Why learn to drive when you can call a cab?
Why learn to cook when you can buy ready made meals?
Why learn to paint when photography exists?
Why learn to do anything when other people can do things better?

For satisfaction, fulfillment, joy, and self-reliance.

You don’t have to learn high skill heroes if you don’t want to. You also don’t have to pick low skill ceiling heroes if you feel you want more out of your experience.

Because why make easy heroes if they are provably worse. At that point go back to the drawing board as you made a worthless hero.

When I’m chilling as Ana kiri or bapt enemy team thinks I’m actually committing war crimes with their abilities :upside_down_face:

I freakin’ hate Batz, but I also play him if the situation calls for it, so I won’t condemn other people for doing so.

It’s nice to have abusable abilities when your Reinhardt spends all game trying to kiss their Widowmaker.

That sounds about right. To aid the Rein though, go LW and slingshot him into the widow, it looks goofy but it’s kinda effective on maps like Eichenwalde.

Few things are as entertaining as the sentence, “How did that Reinhardt get up there!?”

Wrong answer. You clearly play Doomfst for the voice lines.

Let’s see…

Two hardest DPS: Tracer and Echo.

Top three DPS: Tracer, Echo, Sojourn.

Best DPS are the hardest, minus Sojourn.

These are all different niches? Like what? The closest you got was Ashe and Widow, who are still not designed similarly.

And she’s not. Like, she’s OBJECTIVELY not.

So that bad players have something to play, while skilled players have a challenge that rewards them. Easy heroes SHOULD always be worse. Although that doesn’t really make op correct either.

Because being good at something like Widowmaker or tracer soj or genji will always outperform something like bastion mei torb reaper pharah

Nice, thought-provoking question OP! Now consider the other extreme: why even learn easy heroes at all in a game that was balanced in a state where they do little to help you because only hard heroes are powerful enough to be game-changing?

Both extremes are bad. What’s “easy” vs what’s “hard” is entirely subjective—and always will be, even if you redesigned all heroes to be aim-skill-based (more like Ana, Ashe, Widow, McCree, and less like Mercy, Moira, Junkrat, Mauga, Sigma)! That’s why it is important to maintain a careful balance between what the community deems to be “easy” and “hard.” All heroes should ideally be just as effective!

How does she have such a high onetrick rate in GM then?

She shouldn’t have much staying power compared to other heroes considering the skill level she makes up the bulk of GM supports from what I’m seeing.

Did you miss two seasons ago where everyone was playing the easiest heroes Orisa, Torb, Bastion?
Did you miss last season where everyone was playing Mauga the easiest heroes get the most value from what I’m seeing.

They can nerf easy heroes alot more, the reason people would play them is because they’re bad and can’t play other heroes that would be the reason.
Because you don’t have to learn easy heroes you just play them no one is practicing bastion you just pick him and play.

Lucio doesn’t even have to aim his healing at all, so that point is irrelevant. And his AoE is the size of a football field, so makes it even easier. Nothing is difficult about Lucio ultimate either besides waiting for other heroes to use their ultimates so you can deny kills. The timing is the only important aspect to it and timing is important for Kiriko’s ult as well as her Suzu or TP.

They are basically on equal footing for difficulty in terms of mechanics, timing, and awareness, the only difference between them is how they should be played as she feels more defensive (unless ult is ready) and he feels more offensive.

Your comparison should have been something like “why learn how to play Bap/LW when you can play Moira/Mercy.” Heroes on actual opposite ends of the skill spectrum.

Hard Medium Easy
LW Lucio Moira
Bap Kiriko Mercy
