So now that I’ve experienced this on the other side…
(yes, I will leave a game mode when my team isn’t trying or they’re just awful and no, I don’t care what you think about it. I don’t play QP or Comp anymore, just arcade)
I can see why people are annoyed. Just ending my match, giving me NOTHING for it (when I didn’t leave) is bad game design. This is something that seems like it has a pretty easy fix.
Clarification: I play only Arcade modes.
Instead of me calling for the blood of the leavers–I want this game to award a win to the team who didn’t leave.
Why not? We did win, after all!

doesn’t give you a win automatically? or did they leave in the first 30 seconds and cancel the game?
no, they just END the game. No XP, not win, no loss. Nothing. That is so easy to fix.

weird, in competitive you win the game. in quickplay, they backfill. you’d think arcade would have backfill at least.
They will backfill but if not enough people backfill @ once, they just close the game “not enough players…” …

It sucks having a string of crappy matches, and then you finally get on a competent team, and the opponents all leave.

It should give the winning team their win, and everyone their bpass exp. But also the OP is causing games to cancel from them leaving too, so whatever.

If there is a stack that leaves, it just ends the match. Same thing happens in comp with one leaver in under a minute a.k.a after the first team fight/pick.

It happens in qp too, just less often. But I’ve also had the games cancel there. If there are 3 or more people out of the 10 missing, it will cancel after like 15s. It gives a loss to everyone, and people can lose endorsement lvl from it, for the few that care. Been like this since they start it ow1.
No need for the shade. As I said, it’s an easy fix. Don’t just END the game, grant a win to the team that stayed and on to the next match. They can even go a step further and grant a “forfeit” to the one person who is unlucky enough to be stuck on the “leaver” side where they get match XP and forfeit Xp that is the same as a backfill.
yeah it is stupid. the game can go on forever 3v5, but if its 2v5 then it shuts down in 10 seconds if no backfills are found.

Because thats a no-contest and rewarding wins for that doesnt make sense.
Now why does that not include Comp, is beyond me.
And that’s why.
I’ve seen whole teams leave in QP and get (at least mostly) filled back up in seconds.
Arcade (open queue) has less people waiting in line to get in there.
So, because you prefer to playing the migraine of open queue, that happens.

you’re right, it probably feels somewhat hollow but I guarantee you it’s a hell of a lot better than just prematurely ending a game with nothing for anyone. That is why people are so salty about leavers. As I said, for all the modes that ARE NOT comp, this is an easy fix. It reduces the fighting we do about leaving/not-leaving and stops punishing those who choose to stay.
It makes no sense to punish the players because others leave the game; if anything the ones who stick around should be rewarded.

Um, you get full XP for playing Arcade. And to be clear, I’ve seen games end in QP for the same reason.
Two evils doesnt make a right, if they cant fix people leaving the matches, or backfill them in time, they shouldnt just give up and have that function like a normal match, that just leads to a worse game.
Going back to the queue to get into an actual game is the right call there.

If it ends within the first minute neither team gets a win or a loss and all players involved other than the leaver get priority requeue. Look at your replays right after one of these games and there will be neither a ‘victory’ nor ‘defeat’ on it.
but why is that the right call? this just ends up in the people who didn’t leave losing out on XP;/having their time wasted …then posting on here about how much leavers are terrible evil people who deserve to be banned for life.
