I’m too lazy to say “hey everyone please get in team voice chat” every game but half of the players (not counting squads) aren’t in.
They should be in by default to listen (and able to mute players individually, of course), even if they don’t talk.
Also, for squads, I’m not sure. You could argue for both sides and be right.

Because theres no point if you force them people that already don’t join will just mute everyone including themselves so they might as well not be in it

People don’t like hearing the word “forced” cause freedom and all.

Why aren’t chats just a default part of being in game, and those who don’t want to listen just need to mute people at the start of the match? Or why isn’t join voice at least on by default?
forcing customers to listen to people telling them to kill themselves seems like a bad idea

Turn voice chat volume all the way down to 0
Enjoy overwatch in peace without being forced to listen to two super duper pro players scream at each other in comms.
That’s what I’d do if it were forced. Comms are overrated.
I’m sorry when you’re in low elo aka not a pro or master, nobody can really be arsed. It’s not like we haven’t tried. But people are just too mad, frustrated at the game that nothing can change it. What’s the point of grouping up when a Zarya Grav can just team wipe your team…and what’s the point of telling people to group up? Most people already know.
I wonder how the pros do it. They don’t even seem mad about a loss. I’ve tried but I just can’t do it so no thanks to telling me to join chat. It won’t change nothing. All you’ll get is either
Besides if you want voice chat so badly play with friends or join LFG. What’s the purpose of your post? Example of telling someone what they think we are supposed to be doing. Proved my point.
They’re just too lazy to enable it or can’t find it, many of them aren’t in it just because it’s not automatic
They wouldn’t leave unless people started spamming/tilting/etc
Or people could do like me, go to options turn down voice chat volume. Looks like your in chat and you don’t have to listen to everyone’s bad ideas.
First of all, there are so many potato mics and bad sound settings and wacky accents that I can’t understand the majority of what people say on voice chat. Secondly, when I do understand it, it’s not useful to me because I don’t know who said what. It does no good to scream about getting Genji off of you if I don’t know what hero you’re playing. Third, if I’m close enough to be of help, I’ve already seen/heard the problem and am doing my best. Lastly, voice chat walks over the actually useful auto-callouts and game sounds.
Are you forced to talk in a bus? No? Why? You should be forced to talk to others! And dont you dare to put headphones on and listen to your music!

not everyone speaks or understands english for example… why the fuqq would they have to listen to you? Or why would they be forced to listen to toxic people? Or why would i listen to some stupid complains? I didnt buy the game to hear screams that distract me from hearing footsteps and hear if its a Mercy or Widow that is above me. No thanks. Especially not untill they fix the toxicity here. And i dont mean something like “Onetricks are to blame that i escalated and got toxic!” Thats just a stupid excuse and toxic pychos will even get toxic (if there is no thrower, onetrick, offmetapick etc.) at a girl playing the game… and those can get really dirty and not in a good way.

but if i DONT wanna even join? Why should they take away that option and force me to leave chat every game manually?.. Maybe they should shut down your monitor after joining a match and you have to put it on manually every match?
Ever heard of team play ? Turning off your monitor will never help that 
I’ve been in gold/plat for a good 5 seasons now. I’ve played with vc and also played without it. VC hasn’t helped me climb no more than not using it. I also find playing the game without it more fun because I don’t have to listen to someone’s music in the background, clicky keyboards, mom yelling at them in the background, toxic old men and kids, 7 year olds, “shotcallers”, the list goes on.
I’m pretty sure voice chat is already set to auto join team chat by default. Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s what I remember it being set to when I started my account. I had to go into my settings and turn it off on my own.
Now for people in a group this is of course not the case. Group chat takes priority over team chat. I would prefer it to stay this way. If I’m duoing with my bud I don’t want to join team chat most of the time. If we were forced to we could always just leave so it’s pointless anyway.
Team chat is toxic so I’m not going to participate in it no matter what. If you force me in i’ll mute everyone, there’s not much you can do.
I would love to do voice chat but it’s just too much negativity.
Because there was an idiots decision to have a dual-comm system baked into the game instead of being like every other competitive FPS out there and having one.
We all have our own discord servers to talk with our friends/group mates.
I’ve been complaining about this idiocy since release.
It is automatic on console. Just plug in your Mic. It tells you how many people are in chat.
But ain’t no one got time for that
