Why is Wrecking Ball the squishiest tank?

Feels squish.

True you die so fast with wrecking ball because you don’t really have any type of shields like winston, rien, orisa, and dva. Wrecking ball is also one of the easiest character to hit since he’s so big and he’s role is not to protect your team with shields like other tanks. He is more played like a dps tank where he should go flank and attack the back line.

I think with optimal play he doesn’t get hit as much. I can’t do that with Hammond, but I see good Hammonds being hell to shoot at.

So, what, those people can’t aim? Any hero that’s large enough to make D.va’s guns or Sombra’s gun look like respectable damage is easy to hit.

Which would be great if Adaptive Shields supported it instead of being on a 15 second cooldown.

range on his adaptive shields is bad so even his extra health is inconsistent and now with his bug fixes much like hog he will be even less so useful.

He’s fast though, and can really waste somebody’s time if they chase him.

Of course you can ā€œjust shootā€ but with good Hammond mixups you’ll outplay a lot of players.
Let’s say you both start shooting at the same time, you grap on to a structure, pile drive, roll around and restart shooting before your enemy is back at tracking you correctly(kinda like Doomfist).
I’m not saying Hammond is a solid tank. I’m saying he requires a lot of effort like Doomfist to be really good.

He’s a disruptor, you’re meant to be messy to deal with, not an anchor tank.

He is the squishiest because he is also the fastest tank.
He was my main for this season, I’ve played him a lot and had a pretty high winrate, so I can consider myself competent about him.
While playing Hammond you should be in ball mode for like 70% of time and only 30% of time shooting. If you reload while not in ball mode - you play him wrongly. If you use more than one clip in a row without entering a ball mode - you play him wrongly.

he is not the squishiest tank

his mobility makes him hard to hit compared to every other tank, he doesn’t even need a healer to survive he can just escape and take a mega like tracer

well the idea of the devs is that its being balanced with his mobility.

He is a large target (and also everyone wants to kill him for some reason) but he is also the fastest one as well.

The only downside is that he rarely has a chance to use his guns.

The problem I see too is having him buffed to a suitable place would most likely make D.va irrelevant.

I want him to get buffed but I feel like they step on each other a bit too much.

Hit and run tank that is capable of breaking choke points.

His damage is in a good place at close range.

The problem with Hammond is that he is so easy to stop in his tracks, and when that happens he dies fast. You have to keep him moving, swinging, rolling, but the way things are now, its far too easy for the enemy to stop him from moving - just move in front of him. There’s far too many WB gang bangs that spoil the fun.

The problem with hammond is that he has too many hard counters. the second he gets stunned/frozen or hit by any cc ability he’s basically dead because of his huge hitbox. He can’t even grapple out of situations if you just stand in front of him so there’s like a 50/50 chance he’s going to be effective. The piledriver and mine field combo is incredibly good if you can piledrive in the center of the team. He’s basically the definition of high risk high reward hero. He’s really fun to play and good hammond players are going to be your worst nightmare especially if you’re a support hanging in the back.
