IT’S BRONZE. BRONZE. We cannot go any lower, this is the bottom, people. And yet no matter how much I heal, no matter how many picks or medals I get as a support, we still lose AT LEAST 50% of the time, aka, it is literally impossible to climb. I don’t get it. What happened? Has it always been this way? I have been playing casually for four years and I am STILL stuck in bronze??? I am not a bad player, I stick to a few characters I am confident with and I do my job on my teams, but it doesn’t matter. Nothing does, because the other team is WAY WAY WAY better…??? WHY??? WHY are they way better in BRONZE??? IT’S BRONZE! They aren’t supposed to be headshotting all day long, blow us to pieces with ease, surviving ridiculous barrages and flanking like demons, not in bronze. After playing a billion matches here, half of them in support because I like support, I can say with absolute clarity and experience that if your team’s dps is not as good as the other team’s dps, you lose. That’s it. Sure you may have a tank that dives on his own and feeds or a healer that is trying to get kills instead of healing, but really all you have to do is look up on the top right corner of the screen to see who is getting kills, and it isn’t your team nearly often enough. Some dps player takes the time to type out “need healing!” while he is back in spawn and I am like “need kills.” It’s become totally ridiculous to have such high level players in OW BRONZE, almost always on the other team, and always kicking our freaking teeth in. It makes ZERO sense and it isn’t going away, not sure how much longer I can deal with the horrific matchmaking system.

i got a few buddies who have been in bronze and silver for a long time and never got out. some of them echo the exact same sentiments, but then i watch them and they’re total goofballs lol. others got out and actually started improving. i watched one of em fall all the way to <500 and climb back out to gold on his own on tank and support 
but their matches? they’re definitely wild and there are a lot of “unwinnable” matches. at least, unwinnable within reasonable expectations. lot of “unlosable” matches too. it’s an annoying game of averages, mostly. improving and then playing enough games to reflect those among all the bull the matchmaker throws at you, because it’s certainly not consistent.
i’ve definitely had that feeling (and seen others have that feeling) of the matchmaker being wholly against you, in lots of ranks, not just bronze. sometimes it goes away. i’ve noticed it’s usually just a change in peoples mental that they need
im rambling tho, climbing as a bronze player is doable, but personally, i think the game playing casually is more fun than grinding ranked anyway 
Don’t forget it’s also a shrinking population problem as well. The game has been out long enough that most casuals have moved on. The ones left are better skill wise than ever before since they are basically the hard core players. My recommendation is just play quickplay for now and wait for Overwatch 2 to arrive. It doesn’t matter if you lose and most qp games are alright in that most people are playing to win rather than deliberately throwing/screwing around.
I agree the player base has moved on, but they’ve moved on because Blizzard has abandoned the game, providing no real updates or content, no policing it’s player base, it’s now smurf and account boost heavy.
It isn’t hard at all. Support is my worst role and I literally only play it for priority passes when I flex queue, which is rare as you usually get tank on flex.
I climbed to silver doing pistol only Mercy and I’m only a diamond dps/masters tank, not some T500 player with crazy aim. I also climbed to plat with DPS Ana, at which point I had to start healing the team to win.
Because supports rely on the rest of the team pulling their own weight.

I started this game playing in low bronze for 2 seasons, now plat and still improving.
If you really want to, you will get out of bronze don’t worry, don’t think for a second that you are “stuck” because trust me you can get to silver.
Can you provide us a replay to understand what can be improved in your gameplay ?
because you are support. At lower ranks, there is no team cohesion what so ever (bronze to low plat) and the only way to climb is to hard carry. I’m talking 3 picks+ a fight up until 1/4 plat where there is some actual teamwork going on. As a support, you rely on your team more than any other role because support essentially enables the other roles to do what they do.
As a result, if you actually do your job as a support, you are entirely down to your team capitalizing on your enabling to get anything done. If you just try to frag your whole team will get rolled and no matter how good you are, you probably aren’t going to 1v6 the entire team even on the best supports. Combine this with how you need to win back to back to back to back games to actually gain SR, it’s impossible to climb as support realistically.
The way I got mine out was by getting my DPS up to plat, then my tank up to plat then my support was already at plat when I did placements.
This is also the reason platinum is such a horrific rank to be in. Because you have people who are still in the mentality of playing like it’s cod trying to get 3 picks because that’s how they had to get out the low ranks, then you have the people who have been there a while and have learnt you need team play to get stuff done against alot more teams. So you flip flop all over with teammates doing what they’ve been conditioned to do and people actually playing OW.
If you’re trying to healbot/enable bronze players you’re not going to get any value. No offense, but your tanks and DPS are literally the worst players in the game, so only putting resources into them is a bad idea and won’t let you climb. You have to play supports that are capable of making their own plays (so no Mercy or Brig). Go someone like Ana/Bap/Zen and learn how to mix in DPS with support. If your tanks and DPS aren’t killing anything you have to do it yourself, it’s as simple as that.
Like me alot of us left and your mostly around smurfs/throwers.

Post like 5 replay codes of your comp games. We’ll assume they’re you’re best games, because that’s what people do to prove how good they are. I’m sure the community will let you know if it’s you or your team.
play a bit more, learn some general support characters, wait for blizzard to have a sale on overwatch, buy new account. Blam, instant gold/plat. ez.
Trust me, it’s always been broken, it’s just becoming more and more obvious as people play the game more. Do yourself and a favor and stop playing, rank is utterly meaningless in Overwatch.
Because it’s bronze, and support role isn’t known for carrying capacity.
Supports can carry tho
They aren’t designed for that, however. At least half of their kit is about enabling teammates.
So if you want to carry in DPS manner…you can do it, but it would require a lot more effort, than simply picking DPS in situation, when supporting is worthless.
Yeah that’s the thing, the best way to climb from bronze-gold is by being aggressive as a support and making plays
Once you’re approaching 3k that’s when you can rely more on your teammates instead of playing selfishly
The selfish mentality depends on your skill level relative to the rank you are in. The “my team sucks so I’ll just do everything myself” solution only works when you are able to carry your team, which won’t normally be possible unless you’re smurfing.
It may stop working for you around 3k, but I guarantee that higher ranked players use the same selfish mentality in order to carry games in diamond, master and beyond. All that should be expected from a support player is to properly enable their team as that is their intended purpose.
Bronze and silver don’t really exist anymore. With all the smurfs and alt accounts, it’s all gold, you just don’t get the same comp points.
On the flipside, GM doesn’t really exist anymore either. When was the last time any of you had a match without a masters in it?
