Why is this not in the game yet

Starcraft supports Disabling Windows key during the game to prevent users accidently pressing it to leave the game while they are playing it.

Why doesn’t Overwatch, where pressing “Ctrl” is sometimes key during very busy game play, support the setting to disable Windows Key in the option?

Do I have to disable Windows Key totally systemwide for Windows Operating System or pop out the Windows Key only for this game?

It is a weird choice, and I don’t think it is hard code wise, and there is even no Mac or Linux Version of this game… so why?

That would be nice, yeah.

Pressing Windows key doesn’t do anything for me when I’m playing.

Open Battle Net or Overwatch without opening any other 3rd party apps and try it. If it doesn’t open Start Menu, then your system is already set to block Windows Key input.

Try Windows key + Ctrl + D on Windows 10. Happened to me sometimes when playing Hammond, which is why I deactivated it system wide.

I can’t justify disabling Windows key just to play Overwatch, and I also can’t think why Overwatch doesn’t support the option.

There are so many useful shortcut keys with Windows Key…
And Starcraft even has it… so why not do the same thing for Overwatch?

I’ve hit the windows key a lot of times in the past. It’s very annoying

Yeah, sometimes it costs a game. Basically you are standing still for 2 seconds at minimum.

Some keyboard have “game mode” function that disable the Windows key (My Logitech one does).

You could also google how to disable it through Windows.

Well on my old PC it would freeze the game up to 5 seconds and then I have to select the game window and hope it comes back up. Older PCs are the most effected by this mistake

Yeah, not all of us has Gaming keyboard, and I already had to buy a new desktop, and a gaming mouse for this game. Please don’t expect users to pay more to even switch keyboard for the game, just to disable one single key in this game, which can be done with few lines of a code really…

And googling will tell you Microsoft provides a registry patch to disable Windows Key, but it affects system wide, and you have to restart your computer to apply/disable this patch.

Starcraft already has it, and I am not asking for game changing codes. Just copy & paste that code…

I think I figured it out. I think my keyboard disables the Windows key from being used when I’m ingame.

Most gaming keyboards already have a built in disable windows button option…
for me its [FN] + windows key.
