Why is there role queue in Quick Play?

I’ll be honest, I’ve mocked people in my live patch games when they’ll pick 5th dps and then complain about how they can’t wait for role queue. I could never believe that role queue would be in Quick Play. Why is it?

I literally do not understand why there is Role Queue in quickplay. I don’t want to wait upwards of 3 minutes to play a DPS. It’s quickplay, it’s not meant to be taken seriously. I’m pretty upset about this. Because this isn’t quickplay, this is comp with probably longer queue times.

Role Queue I guess is fine in Comp. But I feel like its a major mistake in Quickplay. The reason people play QP is because they want to play what they want, and then theyre are the good people who conform and pick tank or healer. With role queue, no one will conform, 90% of people will queue up for DPS, and queues will be 3+ on a busy hour, and likely 10+ in the later hours of night.

I’m feeling pretty mad about this, gonna be honest.

Because QuickPlay is a cesspool of 4-5-6 DPS comps…

Who said?, it is called QuickPlay, not Free-For-Do-Whathever-You-WantPlay. Go to Arcade if you want something like this…

I don’t like 2-2-2 but as long as they keep Classic in Arcade then it caters for both sides of the opinion.

I’m so glad that 222 means that “it’s just Quick Play bro” can go and died in a corner somewhere.

You wanna muck around, go to Classic fam.

I mean it is tho. Quick play is just a casual game, if you want super serious comps then go to comp.

Edit: didn’t mean to reply to Vangel, forgot to remove it.

Yeah, its a cesspool of 4-5-6 dps comps. But it’s fair. Both teams will undoubtably have 3-4 dps, and you just say ‘whatever’ and try your hardest. People don’t use strategy in QP, and I think it’s better people take it so liberally.

And why do people keep acting like Arcade is the ‘ultra true fun mode’ like your not supposed to take it seriously?

Heres what ever mode offers:
Game Browser/Customs: Customized experience of Overwatch, wacky and weird gamemodes.
Competitive: Competitive points as well as a serious playstyle on both sides
Arcade: Unbalenced gamemodes that aren’t that fun, but you get weekly loot boxes.
Quick play: You can the heroes you want as they were intended to be played

Quick play offers basically nothing. It gives you XP, at the most. The only real thing it currently has going is that people can play what they want

If they split Quick Play into two different modes the queues will be awful. If they make Quick Play basically just ‘faster competitive’ like they have recently, no one will bother going to QP. You’ll have more people in comp who don’t care, but atleast if they win they’ll get comp points.

Because solo healing and solo tanking is an atrocious experience. Quickplay classic will be a thing, so it doesn’t matter

Play Classic Quickplay in Arcade!

Quick play is exactly one half of a comp match. It is quicker than a ranked game, thus it is “quick” play.

Why on earth would quick play be the place to go to spycrab and conga line?

I would like it if they put Quick Play (the current), Role Queue and Competitive under a new " Window" ?

Like when you click on arcade and then on the mode, same thing. Normal Mode or whatever name. Then you choose QP (no role lock), RQ or Comp (with RQ).

In arcade, after a month, is going to end up as a forgotten mode. The same happened to the old Quick Play (now known as limitless, I think).

Man. Friends already uninstalled the game because to a 4 to 6 stack, this lock mode ruins everything…

I’m basically just saying that they need to stop making the casual game literally the same as the competitive game. The only difference between Competitive and Quickplay is that if your on a Hybrid map, 2CP, or Payload map, then theyre are 2 rounds or more. Tell me, what’s the point of waiting in longer queues for a shorter game, when you could rather just play competitive mode which awards you Golden Guns, longer games, and a sense of accomplishment.

NO ONE WILL WANT TO PLAY QUICK PLAY IF THERE IS NO INCENTIVE.

THE ONLY INCENTIVE AS OF RIGHT NOW IS YOU CAN PLAY WHATEVER YOU WANT.

THEY ARE REMOVING THE ONLY INCENTIVE FOR QUICK PLAY.

Unless if you want a bunch of jack-asses like me queueing up for comp instead of QP because its literally just QP but better even though I don’t care too much about Meta or Winning, they should not introduce RQ into QP.

EDIT:
QP will have longer queue times for DPS players in Quick Play (majority of the community) after this update. Competitive has always been around 30% 30% 40% when it comes to who mains what (in order or tank, healer, dps). Queues will remain decent for comp.

So, DPS players will instead just queue for comp because it’s just quick play with more perks. This will increase DPS queue times in Comp. Then no one is happy because queue times are longer, there are people who dont care, and people can’t play the mode they want.

Let people play the game they paid money for. You should not be locked into tank/heal or suffer a 3+ minute long queue. Let people play the damn characters they want to play with no punishment.

That doesn’t change what I said Quick play is still a CASUAL game mode.

Why should Quick play be a unranked try hard mode?

Because the game was designed from the ground up as a team based moba hero shooter with a heavy emphasis on team. This basic foundation is something the game has been needed for a LONG TIME. Now when you queue into a game you can at least have some assumption of something resembling a balanced team. You will have all 3 roles in your party and how well you work together relies entirely on the players and their ability/desire to flex within their roles.

It won’t be a random grab bag of heroes. Oh you wanted to play Mercy, reindhart etc or any hero who needs a balanced team to perform, well too bad that you got queued with a Widow maker, a hanzo, and an ashe and they all want to snipe.

Quick play and competitive also need to be closely related so that you can have an actual place to practice in competitive when you don’t want to risk your rank but you still want to win. This is also true so that when your playing the game in quick play going to competitive doesn’t feel like such a huge jump and that is a good thing. It makes it a smoother transition and so that your experience in quick play actually matters in competitive.

The arcade has been the developer’s attempt at creating a place to play that has the most casual of attitudes and finally original “its just quick play” will be where it belongs.

Firstly win or lose is in the game and everyone want to win. For me meh win or lose is not important but being in a decent game is important all of us…

In comp i take too serius and its makes me angry or sad. asking about for it ppl said me “dude chill it just a game”. ok its a game. But why the hell i team up with clever(!) ppl.

Then queue quick play for less stress and more fun with 5 dps and me wrecking ball or another tank… Same ppl “dude chill its just a quick play”

Now i m asking all of u, if the real overwatch is team based fps game why we discuss being wierd team comps. And there is always an option for arcade…

For me its been so good for community

I think it’s probably long over due and would be a good qol for the game for a role queue. As a result I’ve been playing more support and less DPS and having fun actually helping the team instead of just doing my own thing as a dps and dying to stupid things like I used to do.

I mean they are also doing it to help with future balance patches but people are to busy screeching about the end of dayz to thing about that…/sigh

On top of that QP lives matter. Maybe blizzard thought they deserved to have “fair” and “balanced” matches as well.

DPS players have every right to want 2-2-2 as well, you’re acting like only tankers and support players want 2-2-2, this is simply not true.

Role queue in QP is there because Blizzard wants a continuity of experience to pave a way to OWL from the bottom up. Start in QP, go Comp, and (theoretically) match OWL play. NOT doing 2-2-2 in QP would violate that principle and also make people ill prepared to do comp because of all the bad habits an open 6-stack encourages.

You have an open 6-stack arcade mode that will likely be permanent, whats the issue?

The game you described in your post is the reason QP needs role queue more then any other mode.

I dont play comp, does that mean I don’t deserve to have good games?

Don’t want to wait to play a match, learn other roles.

Dump comp player response: “iTz jUStz QP!”…

I’ve said it before and I never go near comp.
