Why is the Pride event unavailable in Lebanon?

Hello,

I would like to respectfully present my concern regarding the unavailability of the OW2 Pride event/celebration, Pride icons, and banners in my country, Lebanon.

I understand that there may be certain restrictions and considerations when it comes to cultural and regional sensitivities. However, I would like to clarify that being LGBTQ+ is not illegal in Lebanon, and Pride flags are also not prohibited. In fact, we have several active LGBTQ+ organizations here.

Given Lebanon’s unique circumstances compared to other Arab countries, I kindly request that you reconsider the decision to ban Pride-related content in our region.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Did you read what I wrote?

Hmm I know very little (basically nothing) about how servers work across nations, but being that Lebanon is a middle eastern country, would that simply be why? Like if they let the event happen in Lebanon…it would have to happen in the “other, less evolved, overly religious” places around there?

I don’t know how servers work either, but I know they can choose what country gets what content. They have banned the Pride event in Romania last year then changed it when mL7 got vocal about that ban.

Blizzard is scared and need to go to church. I have no idea about anything in Lebanon, but refusing to activate the confetti on Midtown anywhere is beta behavior. Of all their controversy and THIS is where they exhibit some form of “self awareness.” It’s a bad joke.

Restictions such as this are decided by law, not Blizzard. If they want to sell their products in those countries, they have to abide. These decisions may also be made ‘per region’, as opposed to ‘per country.’

Mr Elon answered this question during his latest legal battle with Brasil.

Free speech is only for the country you live in. MNC will need to adhere to other countries rules and what their social norms are.

Probably has to do with geopolitics. Blizzard likely has to follow each country laws otherwise the game gets effectively banned by itself.

It’s okay. We’ll enable them for you and they can put you in the gulag.

I hope they make it available for you. It’s a shame some simple rainbows and having acceptance is taboo and unacceptable in some countries.

Is this a serious question? Pride, LGBTQ, and all that aren’t accepted/ tolerated in every country OW is legally playable in. Every version of the game has the same cross playable build I’m pretty sure too. It would probably be fine in America, but they would get a lot of flak in another country.

They’re not going to make a separate build of a game to give representation to anyone to avoid backlash from other countries said build might offend.

Except China, China requires a different build and handle by a different developper lmao.

It is an excellent question! :ok_hand:

I feel like this question would be best for the Technical Support forum or using the Contact Us page to ask the Developers directly.
