Why is the lore going so slow

One lore cinematic video per blizzard event is too slow. They could have shown another lore story celebrating OWL FINALS too. I get that the quality has been amazing but this is going too slow. I might not live long enough untill i see genji, soldier and reaper in the same cinematic movie.

The writers actually down’t know how to pad the inevitable uncovering of certain mysteries, they don’t explore old hero stories because they know a lot of fanfic authors here will rage the moment their stuff becomes non-viable.

Total bs to be honest. It’s Blizzard’s universe and they can do with it anything they want.

Probably, but you can only do what you want on a whim for so long before your consumers get bored, people will keep playing for sure but excusing a developer just because “its theirs and they can do what they want” is one of the most cancerous arguments one can use and is the reason a lot of AAA developers have gone bad.

Because they sold enough copies of the game. No need to attract more players, just a waste of time.

I guess they will have to keep pumping up microtransactions if they want more money from the established players then.

If we’re going to rely on fandom, then we’re already screwed. But it’s Blizzards creation and it’s their duty to make it interesting so that consumers won’t get bored, if they’re going to follow fandom and try to satisfy it, then we’re not going to make it far. There’s still hope in me that one day Blizzard will make some kind of a story mode. At least something like Uprising/Retribution co-op missions.

Blizzard made beautiful universe, and I hope they will keep it that way.

Fandom always attracts more people or the opposite, drive away potential customers by word of mouth, world building and character development are necessary in case of OW, what may be dangerous is mindless pandering, sadly the OW team are also worshipers of “current year” stuff in a very blatant way sometimes.

It’s happening already

You should have started with the first OWL skins or Pink Mercy, but yeah, they are doing it, and guess what? I was considering giving them some views on Twitch but turns out I can’t get more tokens or stuff by watching the streams because my country doesn’t have an OWL team so no money or exposure from me and I for sure have stopped recommending this game long ago.

Fandom can always stay, but Blizzard should have their own ideas, what’s the point if Blizzard just takes some ideas from fans and consider it as a canon? Boring if you ask me.

By the way Pink Mercy was just a gift for donation, not paywall skin.

That’s the point, but sadly the OW team is no strange to pandering, as for Pink Mercy, even if it was a “bonus” for charity it was still an experiment after the OWL skins, they succeeded in testing if people would accept content that can’t be accessed by in-game gambling or currency, that’s why we have all that stuff on Twitch now.

But the OWL skins were OWL related tho, and the Pink Mercy was for charity even if now I’m convinced it was a test for see how many people will spend money for 1 skin, and I was still having the benefit of the doubt… but now is confirmed the direction the game is going.

They want us to suffer.

It would be nice if we got new content that is focused on lore every other month.

What I mean with the OWL skins is how they introduced another currency to the game separate from credits or even slots-- I mean, loot boxes, then they just decided to experiment with the charity angle, despite being “non-profit” you see how many people didn’t like the idea but the success of the campaign meant they had enough data to confirm that people were willing to spend real money on “exclusive” items.
