This hero genuinely feels underpowered in so many ways I know tank mains hate her and sure she can be annoying to play against but so is countless other heros.
Im not asking for anything crazy like massive buffs but sombra never gets buffed yet has a awful win rate and pick rate if she was so oppressive and powerful then why is she not getting played and losing so many games?
Her dps like most non high spike damage heros has become much less impact full and her utility has been nerfed countless times too. Its got to the point that her damage is not even close to good for 2020 standards and her utility is her only thing going for her.
In conclusion I feel like sombra has been held back and ignored when it comes to
Getting buffs simply because people don’t like her. I’ve genuinely lost hope of ever feeling powerful using her and it makes me sad because I used to love this game so much. Despite sombra feeling almost like a throw pick your still met with loads of hate messages from people for even playing her. I feel like this great community I once loved just doesn’t have a place in it for me anymore. Im not trying to make people feel bad for me im sure there’s people who have it way worse it just makes me sad and I feel like I have no place in the community just because of the hero I play.
You’re right Sombra doesn’t need buffs, she’s pretty well balanced now. She does require some bug fixes, namely being able hack someone after they break LOS. I disagree with her being unplayable. Maps are becoming more important than Meta, which is good. Now she’s only really strong on Maps with high ground as opposed to being a must pick on all.
I think the primary reason why her winrate is low is because she is the most team dependent DPS in the game. So in elos below GM where coordination is weak she probably won’t see too much success. Theres thousands of other factors but that the primary reason.
(Overbuff is also said to be unreliable so keep that in mind)
I think Sombra needs a buff too, and that’s coming from a tank main. I was in a match against a Sombra, and she was destroying me… until I realized it’s because I was looking at her and showing her my giant crit box. After that if I got hacked I just showed her my butt and walked away. The poor girl couldn’t scratch my paint…
I’d argue the support ults in general are the counters to emp you shouldn’t be punished with a long animation for using your ultimate on a hero whos entire power is their ult.
I used to be a sombra main before role q. She’s just maximal effort in all senses for a chance at winning, no reason to pick her over any other dps unfortunately.
I’d personally like to see her as an off support with:
100 shield hp 100 normal
Hack cooldown is 6 seconds and lasts 3 seconds. Hacks enemies as normal and heals allies for 40 HPS for 3 seconds.
Translocator has a 30 second max duration, emmits 15HPS pulse in 15m radius, both encourage returning to team.
Stealth now lasts 15 seconds max and doubles speed.
Opportunist now shared with allies in 8m radius.
Emp cost is now 2000 from 1440? and Heals both allies and hacks enemies.
This would give sombra a place as a true support whilst still maintaining her disruptive hacker nature.
People dont like playing against her and the devs kinda dont want her to be good. Any “buff” attempt gets coupled with multiple compensation nerfs. She hasnt recovered from her hack and EMP nerf she got thanks to goats which cant be played anymore in 2-2-2, but the devs usually dont like to admit mistakes.
So there is that.
“she can be annoying to play against but so is countless heroes”.
I know this is subjective, but Sombra really is unique in the way shes irritating. Invisible characters usually are (theres a reason the spy in TF2 was never made to be particularly competitive) and coupling invisibility with a very prolonged status effect in hack makes for a frustration that Mei and Doomfist just cant compete with.
I would usually only say this sort of thing as a joke, but with Sombra I genuinely hope she stays trash tier until she gets a rework.
They should try an experimental card with her. Remove hack but give her stat enabling hud abilities from hacking a target. She hacks you. She transmits ult and cool down numbers on the target. She must hack a target to configure her weapon. So that the ammo of the gun is able to make a better bullet to deal with the user. This way they could make the wide spread vary depending on who you fire on. Become more lethal on a hacked target etc. EMP stays the same. Maybe you build your EMP. But to fire it. You must have had to hack all 6 people. And if someone switches, you can’t use your ult.
I play a lot of Sombra, and while I know majority of the forum’s Sombra community will disagree, Sombra’s character archetype has been one of the most reviled character archetypes throughout gaming history.
The only reason she hasn’t gotten as much hate as he would in the event that she was super strong, is because Blizzard has purposely left her bad throughout Overwatch’s lifetime.
Everyone keeps on trying to make Sombra a Support when she’s clearly an assassin-type character, and I for one don’t agree with it.
In fact, the only reason why I feel like she fails in her assassin role is because she lacks the mobility necessary to actually stay in the midfight like Tracer, she needs to be quicker.
Sombra spends more time trying to get back to the battlefield than she does staying in it.
That said, if Sombra was to become this Support, she would be THE most broken and must-pick Support in the game.
Healing your team whilst disabling the enemies abilities is EXTREMELY strong.
I like that idea, but then I imagine people complaining about specific interactions and making comparisons about how Sombra’s gun shouldn’t be more effective against one hero than another.
People’s subjective opinions are what got us here, after all. I wouldn’t really trust them not to complain about hero-specific interactions.
