Why is sombra able to hack wrecking ball out of ball form?

Sombra cant hack Rammatra out of his nemesis form, nor can she hack bastion out of turret form or his ult. So why does such a hard-counter dynamic need to exist against a tank in OW2, who’s entire existence is reduced to worthlessness with simple no skill 4 second cooldown ability?

If the purpose of reworked Sombra is to only stop the engages from other heroes, rather than complete shutdown of all abilities, then it only makes sense that hack cancels piledriver/grapple, or forces the current form of wrecking ball for the duration of the hack. Doing so still fulfils the purpose of cancelling wrecking ball’s engages whilst helping somewhat by easing this hard-counter dynamic.

Thats actually a good question, for stuns do not get him out of ball form, and thats what a transformation is supposed to work like, since hacking also doesnt stop other transformations… tbh thats a change i think would be for the best to get both Sombra and Ball outa this hard-counter scenario.

It should lock him in ball form

Yeah, thats what happens with other transformations too, it would be much less of an issue for him, though it would still stop his rollout if hes tethered.

while we’re at it, hack isnt meant to slow enemies, so it should not really cancel fireball either, just disconnect the grapple

Well it wouldnt if it didnt get him outa ball form i dont think.

Neither does sleep, yet it gets ball out of his form.
Another inconsistent interaction is with shields. It cancels sigmas and rein shields, but not rams.

Cancels blocks for both ram and fist, as well as orisas jav spin.

I don’t think they’ll change any of it atm, until they figure out what they want to do with her in general.

Thats cuz Ram’s is a deployable cooldown like Winston or old Orisa.

That one kinda makes some sense but yes its also inconsistent with other CCs.

Isn’t it because its an ability, and when the ability is off, he is not in ball form.

Why doesn’t it completely disable him and Sombra takes control and just rolls him off the map?

Arguably less of an ability than nemesis form or bastion turret mode. It doesnt even have a cooldown.

It also cancels soldiers sprint, which isn’t a transformation, but is the closest thing to ball roll that she can cancel.

Soldier’s sprint is a channel, so it makes sense, if he gets stunned it cancels it too.

Hammond’s ball form cancelling is designed like this on purpose, since it doesnt make sense otherwise.

I mean its an ability, which will be in the bottom right of your screen… then again, Mercy’s beams are listed there too…
but it is attached to an ability button for sure so…
to conclude, i dunno lol

Honestly I don’t know at this point, I learned to not look for consistency or some sort of sense in ow2. Because so far it’s very evident that the game wasn’t ready and that blizzard themselves don’t know what to do with it.

The hack itself is a joke at this point, you’re suppose to hack for dmg buff, but also not because if you do, you’re denied from canceling abilities.

Inconsistencies exist everywhere in this game. But why does an inconsistency need to favour the winning side more-so in an otherwise already hard-counter dynamic?

Ball is much less affected by her than he used to be. Sombra really doesn’t need to be weaker.

Oh i know, this has been a issue for a while, they just do stuff without consistency just to force variety in the game, like Accretion just going though DM/Deflect for no reason just cuz, or Doom’s Punch going through melee blocking abilities…etc.

Yep, though i think its a good idea to take off this interaction to open up her kit to not be this hard-countering and give her compesation for.

Compesatory buffs exist, you know, i think this interaction is one of the things the game does not need, as in hard counters.

It’s not a hard counter anymore. His ability is only locked out for 1.5 second. The damage boost doesn’t apply to anyone but Sombra.

Its still a hard counter, for it gets him out of his rollout and ball form wich is very momentum based, it completely stops it, unlike even stuns or boops.
