I must have screwed my team over for 10 games straight before someone pointed out that my profile was hidden. Nobody knew who I was able to play. And I’m starting to notice that nobody else realized it was automatically turned on either.
Edit: This community is incredibly toxic. Most players don’t want to check their settings page everytime a new update comes out, and they don’t want to waste time reading Patch Notes for a system that Jeff already made a video about. New features that affect competitive play like this should be set off by default and turned on if you want it. There’s no reason I should have to be the savior for 11 people when I tell them they forgot to turn off their default setting.

Why is top 5 most played heroes menu permanently removed too…that is the most disappointing thing about this recent patch…It was so helpful to look at and now its totally gone, what a shame, why Blizzard.

They want to remove “toxicity against hero choices”, but instead they just allow everyone to instalock DPS and get away with moral high-ground as well

If you already made up your answer why do you bother posting this thread?

yeah i can see why they did it, but it shouldnt have been automatic or they should have given every one a notif that it was hidden, i feel really awkward asking for ppl to unprivate their accounts because i dont wanna seem toxic, i just want everyone to be able to play a hero they like and know.
Dead horses and the beating thereof.

Because it is a question for the devs, not for me. And it’s stupid that every profile I see is private rn because nobody knows about it
BUDDY, the question is WHY are the profiles automatically private? I’m not hating on the system, I’m hating on the choice of it being set for everyone without their permission
Because a whole bunch of toxic people already have the mentality “why are you hiding your profile you must have something to hide/boosted player/etc.”
By making profile private by default, no one has any basis for that claim.

That’s the worst reasoning I’ve ever heard. I assure you that is not why.
You can see a ton of posts making that claim if you read any of the longer threads on this same topic.
If people are going to be toxic about hiding a profile, then do you really think they werent going to be toxic in the first place?
Toxic people will be toxic, it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to limit their fuel source.

Except the cons outweigh the benefits
Blizzard obviously thought otherwise, since they made the decision and put in the effort to enable private profiles.

Go to settings and click on social. It’s pretty clear to me…
It was explained before and during the patch…
