Why is Overwatch so toxic? In-game and also the community generally speaking.
I don’t know, but I think it’s time I turned off team / match chat in addition to never getting into voice.
It’s not your job to take crap from the malcontents that need to jeer and blame every match, it’s your job to move the payload.
It’s the same in other game communities as well.
The anonymity of the internet and the lack of enforcement of the rules/no severe punishments
Because it’s a video game. (I feel like I don’t really need to explain myself beyond that individual statement).
i found that ow is more toxic in pc compared to consoles since everyone can “type in chat” and i believe the toxicity came from players from different genre of games.
Because everyone is immature and really annoying.
I usually do that too. However, now and then I unmute just to see what’s being said and everytime I do so I get greeted with full load toxicity. It’s just sad… I feel like the toxicity also spreads among the community, the more people are being toxic, the more people will become toxic
-Some lousy joke about waste dumps and cesspools-
Aren’t I such a good comedian?
Every game that’s competitive in nature has a toxic player base.
The stakes are high, and so are the salt levels.
People put a lot of effort into their matches. And more often than we’d like to admit, it’s to no avail. It’s the same reason why most people don’t like their ex partners. Putting a lot of effort into something to no avail is frustrating.
That’s not much explanation to be fair.
What’re you talking about? the games great…if you’re playing in a group.
It’s almost as if a grouping option could alleviate some of the toxicity…hmmm.
Not everyone is toxic. Just gotta find the good apples out of the tree. We have so many different types of people who play this game so it’s hard to have just “one mentality” across 30 million players (As much as it would be great).
But remember this one thing. A lot of people are toxic because matchmaking system doesn’t seemingly work. People feel like they don’t belong in the rank they’re in. A lot of people hate one tricks, many do not. Some think support mains are boosted and carried, others feel entitled. You’re gonna see this in any game, especially fps. OW is bad, but certainly not the worst. The community is just divided into so many sub groups and this is why it seems like people have nothing but mean things to say. I always try to spread kindness to all, and it’s usually greeted with a middle finger, but it’s alright, many good people still here who wanna play the game.
Its same as any other game. ( but league has the number 1 spot) ^^
If a video game includes working with other (actual) people, then it’s basically destined to have toxicity. That’s just how the video gaming community is.
Overwatch isn’t special, every game is toxic. Sometimes it feels like its more then other games but thats just because it’s heavily team based. Your basically forced to work with people you don’t know.
That really just depends how you look at it, doesn’t it? I find the effort I put into comp matches very worth it. I know that I’m learning and improving each game.
And in cases like Rainbow 6, they’ve gone iron fist and will now ban you from the whole game now.
I like that Blizzard at least will use chat bans instead of full ons.
It also doesn’t help that games becoming mainstream means thinner skinned people coming on and playing and not being able to take banter.
I just played with a 5 stack. I was solo queuing. To say the least, it was not the happiest experience (they were toxic AF.)
You misunderstood. The game’s more enjoyable when you’re PART of the stack.
Solo play is often much more miserable, and you’re the first one to be blamed if you start losing. (unless there’s a torb/sym player)
No. You said that stacking would alleviate some of the toxicity.
