Why is Orisa ult invuln to sleep?

Pretty self explanatory but orisa’s ulti is the only one invuln to ana’s sleep. why?

*edit: i understand the logistics of fortify, just in concept it seems like BS

Orisa automatically uses fortify when in her ult, making her immune to any and all CCs. That’s why.

Ult applies fortify. Fortify makes her imune to cc. Sleep is cc. Conclusion: she is imune to cc in ult.

Yeah I should’ve explained better, I under the logistics of the fortify, it just seems like bogus that she would be immune to everything

lmao How dare there be a counter to sleep dart!

Its more why did they seemingly remove nearly all counterplay to it.
Can’t really kill her in it.
Cant’ really CC her out of it.
Walking about is usually not feasible due to pull and slowing effect.
It ignores barriers.

Mobility ability is the only full counter.

I mean… giant target (tank) has an ult that requires them to stand still for multiple seconds to charge before release. Can you imagine how trash it would be if you could sleep her out of it?

It’d be worse than high noon ever was against an Ana.

There was always a counter to sleep dart, its called the Ana’s “teammates”.

Cause you can escape her ultimate by pressing S.

It also doesn’t go through walls/obstacles.

No you know Ana is fair and unbalanced and needs no counters!!!

She must able to always turn off healing, increase healing and stun/silence/interupt a character while incapicating them for several seconds.

Actually Im pretty furious Bionade isnt hitscan.

And Nanoboost should also CLEANSE!!!

This is really my point with it. With no way to counter it, she should at least be sleepable.

She has 0 self risk for charging as long as possible, aside from people escaping. That doesn’t seem very balanced. Even sigma can get cc’ed out of his.

Be fair at least, it is literally another fortify cooldown and she is taking 40% less damage. It’s not at though she is hard to hit while moving normally.

I mean “Because her ult is built to be close range, and a single shot at a fixed target unable to affect you would be kinda dumb” is a much better argument.

She roots herself in place and has to charge up her damage long after activating ult – doesn’t seem like it would feel good at all if she could just be slept/stunned/knocked out of position

If they ever remove the root and allow her to prance after the enemy while twirling her spear around before dropping that mini dva nuke, then maybe sleep/stuns would be nice?

She’s immune to a lot more than just cc. She’s also immune to critical shots and she gets a 50% damage reduction. And her ult goes through shields.
There is no real drawback to ulting.

I know, but original question wasn’t ‘why I cannot HS orisa when she ults’, it was ‘why I cannot sleep her when she ults’.

I can count on one hand how manty times I’ve seen Orisa die in her ult. Just another god mode ability for her.

Orisa’s ult would be completely worthless without the Fortify. She would be defenseless and trivial to interrupt. They’d have to increase the charge speed a lot.

Sigma also not only retains his normal movement, but gains flight during it as well, he can also duck behind cover after placing the target area. Not quite as vulnerable as a self rooting ability that has to be channeled for a few seconds would be without fortify and its benefits.

I didnt say it was a particularly risky move for her to javelin spin and/or fortify forward into you and then use ult which grants her fortify again, regardless of if its on cd or not.

If they removed the fortify from the ult, or removed the CC protection from ult, honestly, how often do you think Orisa would get kills with it? “Pulling people off the map with you” shenanigans aside.

I actually think it is a crucial component of her ult.

Also, I hate Sigma like a snail hates Salt, and am all for anything that would destroy that character.

Orisa’s ultimate was clearly designed and balanced similarly to d.Va bomb. It’s a ‘get out of my face or die,’ button that gives you more sustain and allows you to play extra aggressive and take more space. It’s not supposed to reliably get kills unless your enemies mis-play. It is supposed to be almost impossible to deny so it forces the enemy to give you space.

But people in this game underrate the value of tools that don’t get kills so they whined about it until it was buffed. So now it retains all its original value in terms of extra sustain and zoning, while also having a very good chance of securing picks.

In other words it’s currently overtuned.

Being able to sleep a massive target standing still is absolute bull crap either run away or if she’s low enough JUST SHOOT HER sleep dart counters 90 percent of ults let her have this
